50381, Turbo HP stats???
Posted by Aggression, Jun-12-03 07:31 AM
Quick Q...how much HP does a HRC Stage 2 w/ fmic add to our cars. Lets say your adding it to a 97 GS. What does the GS come with stock? I read in Import tuner that a 99 RS comes with 114 hp stock. They had an article where they added a CAI and some headers and then showed you the chart on the hp and torque gains from those bolt ons. I just need to know the stock hp on my 97 GS (abouts doesn't have to be exact) and how much the stage 2 will add abouts doesn't have to be exact) because I know its different in every application...I just want to know about what hp I am looking at getting myself into. tia

HRC stage one claims 200 to 225 HP and Stage 2 250 to 275 HP.
That is to the crank of course.
So about 210 to the wheels on a stage 2.

Do you mean 210 on top of what the car comes with stock? Or you saying once you install it your car will have 210 total?

more like 240-250 hp to the wheels on a well tuned stage 2, you got to realize, a stage will bounce u into high 13s with a good driver.

our cars are 140hp stock at the crank, and maybe the 114hp is at the wheels.

Our cars are just to damn slow stock. Even if you have a CAI, headers and full catback its still to slow. Makes me sick ;(

our cars are pretty much average stock in hp from other cars. look at the bright side...hondas are probably some of the slowest stock, besides the new accords

That's why it's so crazy when you install a turbo kit. As soon as I did I was so impressed with my car. I haven't had any actual races but just messing around with other cars put me ahead of a stock TSi AWD and a few other sporty cars. Don't mess around with the small mods, jump right into turbo and those mods will give you bigger increases once you're boosted.

check this out...I was up at the shop where my boy works and this guy asked me if I wanted to buy his 2 month old stage 2 turbo kit for $1800 and he was going to throw in a full nos system as well. I asked him the usual question. Why are you selling the kit so cheap. He said he just blew his motor up do the fact that he was running around 12 to 13 psi and he hit a boost spike and it jumped up to like 20 something psi and messed up piston 1. So what do you all think about this? Should I get it or just save up and get a brand new HRC stage 2 like I plan on doing. His also comes with a huge fmic. The only thing I would need to purchase to have everything you need for a stage 2 is the exhaust manifold. I don't know, just seems to good to be true...especially when he is going to toss in a full nos system as well. I don't know.

i wouldnt run n2o ontop of boost with stock internals....:nono

if it sounds too good to be it probably is.

I agree. Even the turbo kit by itself (with moderate boost level) could break an engine. The addition of nitrous to the turbo kit with stock internals will most definitely result in engine failure. If you do plan to go turbo, also make plans to upgrade the internals too.
