50316, friend's turbo civic ran a 12.9 last night before blowing up! Posted by rfpunch, Jun-11-03 02:12 AM
i was wondering if anyone on the board has broke into the 12s with their 2gnt turbo car, and if so, what boost/power level was required to achieve it. im sure there has been people, just dont know of any. i was impressed with my friend's time last night although it did blow up after the run!! id say it takes a lot less power to get a civic into the 12s since they are so damn light. its a hatchback with the b18c1 motor(i think), with some type of turbo kit that includes a t3/t4. guess he didnt care if it blew up, he just wanted a 12 second timeslip. he was running 13 psi. cya

one of my friends has a sohc civic with a custom t3/t4 turbo kit on stock internals and hits 8.4's,8.5's in the 1/8th which was the same time one of the new supercharged mustangs runs i just cant wait to see what he hits in the 1/4. It doesnt have limited slip yet but he was running slicks to hit these times.

i'm sure brynden should be getting into the 12's pretty soon too. with any luck, i'll be in the mid 13's by the end of the summer, and maybe next summer i'll be in the 12's with some head work. ETA for FMIC, LSD, and a CM stage 4 is about a month. my car should be a lot happier after that.

if a car hits 12's at the 1/4 mile and blows up afterwards.. it doesnt deserve that time. a car who hits that time should be able to drive home happy

how could it "not deserve" it? he ran it and has the slip. if it ran it once it can do it again once the motor is strong enough to hold up

this is an assenine statement............ you are pretty stupid... doesn't matter if he blew something up he still ran 12's...... i don't see you comming anywhere near that..... so until you do keep your stupid comments too your self before you make yourself look even stupider.........:nono

hey i'm not stupid. i think everyone is entitled to their own opinion. i guess he does deserve it, but it would be better if the car can handle it.

super ownage, good point icedout. and btw, u have a pm'
hopefully after this rebuild, low 12s on slicks with moderate boost shouldnt be a problem.

i could probably hit 11's with a 500hp shot of nitrous...
Then again, it'll turn my car into thousands of pieces of little flaming metal confetti.
Its great when a car runs what it runs, but it should manage to survive the abuse. Top fuel Draggers have been spending thousands to get their cars into the 5's and 6's for years, but they're worthless for the drive home.
So is your car a one-run wonder? or is it a true sports car, willing to drive you home after?

damn noob comments, awwwww :nono
you goto the track, prove your point. turn a respectable time, you got bragging rights. you blow it up, you got bragging rights, suck up the loss, and build something better. thats the ways this game goes, like the old saying goes
" If you cant run with the big dawgs, then keep your broke ass in the garage"

aren't you guys being a little harsh? :wary I mean if you have to blow up an engine just to get a certain time either you're doing something wrong or the engine can't handle being pushed that hard. I mean seriously, it's like when someone runs to much boost and blows the engine, sure for that time it had alot of power, but it wasn't built to last. and unless your car is just some hardcore racer that you can afford to drop in a new engine after a day at the track, I think building it fast so it lasts is much better than a one time rocket.:rolleyes
