i live in simi valley, california and how much is altitude a factor?

i did this alone btw, but i'll try later with someone to watch over. when cranking the engine, the needle stays up where the pressure is.

Stock pistons? Forged? What static compression ratio? Motor cold or hot? It all makes a difference.

oh, i have the stock motor and ready to turbo (i have the turbo kit). the motor was running for thirty minutes doing errands and waited twenty minutes before i started the test.

did i do the crank thing right? you leave it in the on position for the same amount of seconds on all cylinders right. how come there was such a huge difference between the first trial and the second? also, i know altitude is a huge factor, so is it better to be at sea level (i.e. at the beach) cause i think i live at least a couple hundred feet above sea level?

did you step on the throttle while you were doing it?

yeah i step on the throttle all the way while turning on the engine.
is my method okay btw (of turning the crank for 10sec and then 15sec)?

I will usually crank the motor over until the needle stops going up, that way, you know the full compression of the cylinder.

i'll do another compression test again to know if i should boost? my car as a whole has never given me any headaches (crosses fingers and knocks on wood).

i know from the site that it should be 180-215 with little variation. if i go at the beach, ya think it'll be higher or better?

should i pour oil in the sparkplug well?

Follow these to a T and you will know you have done it right. Let us know the results. BTW don't use oil unless one of them is out of spec for compression. That is something you do after you find low cilinder compression.
