It sounds like a harmonica under boost conditions. I can't find any vac leaks and the turbo system has been on the car for about 3 years. This sound has just developed. Could it be the craptech going bad? The car runs fine, but the sound is annoying. Thanks for any ideas.

Yes, really it does sound funny,(notice the subject heading) But my poor pride hit the floor when my girlfriend took my car to town and came back making fun of it. She is the one who said it sounded like a harmonica. Anyways I have a healthy sense of humor, so i hope the soda didn't burn your nose:+

harmonica??..mine sounded like a kazoo..u got a leak somewhere. check your air filter and its components, probably all the screws arent that tightened. but with mine, my gasket for my wastegate busted. the bolt that was attached to the exhaust manifold wasnt tightened very good, extra gas got in between in, and boom..cracked the ring on the gasket..thats where that harmonica/kazoo sound came from. just put your car in idle, and feel around it if u feel any hot air coming out.

check all your intercooler piping also, and couplers, to be sure none are leaking. Build a boost leak detector out of some PVC pipe,and an air compressor fitting, and put air pressure into the pipes, to find any leaks. I used a small piece of 2" PVC, a end cap, and put a comressor fitting on the end of the cap. Then you can take off the piping at the turbo outlet, connect the pvc pipe, and use a coupler to connect it. Put it under some air pressure(not much), and listen/feel for any leaks. Start there, to rule that out..
