49210, 8 injector info--- tell me everything Posted by Erik, May-20-03 02:43 PM
I'm starting to consider this now. I'll be working a better job during the summer and will pocket most of the money. I have a set of 30lb injectors and saving for a SFMU. I have a palm that I'm hoping to pocketlogging stuff for for my B-day. Will that be enough to tune? I have a spare intake that Fast420A has for practicing P&P. Who is running this set-up(besides Corbin) and what troubles/warnings can you offer? I have done some research, and seems like the best of both worlds rather than the "larger injector/SFMU" set up. Should I sell the dust-collecting 30lb injectors for something smaller and get rid of the vortech FMU to spare a little extra cash in affording the EIC? Is it really worth all the time and effort? I'm looking for guys who actually run this set up.

I'd do a search on the topic ("8 injector"). It's been discussed quite a bit as of late.
I'm running the setup as well as a number of others. The only downsides I can think of is the inital customizing necessary to set it up. Other than that, it's great! The money that you would otherwise spend to acquire really large injectors that are hard to handle at idle, can be used elsewhere, while also taking advantage of the off-boost driveability.
I run stock 235's and secondary 440's. I've been nothing but pleased with the setup. Especially with the ability to tune the setup to a fine degree of accuracy.

does the safc allow you to rely on only 1 set of injectors for most driving, then use the second set for wot? or are they always both on..

The 034EIC is completely adjustable for when you want fuel and how much. It adds fuel based on rpms and atmospheric pressure. You can set it up to squirt fuel at all times, or to only squirt fuel past 0 vac, or squirt fuel past 3 psi of boost, and so on. At each point of rpm and boost, you can add or reduce the amount of fuel delivered. Go here to see more specifics: http://www.034efi.com/034SupECU.html

I use the 8 injector setup and love it. The software for tuning it is excellent. Several of the adjustable fuel peramiters in the 034EIC program reminds me of the software used with the AEM EMS standalone system. I have boosted up to 18 psi on this setup so far and have gotten a nice even burn in all cylinders with a flawless transition into boost (once tuned of course :)).
If you decide to go with this setup, the SFMU is not necessary at all. You can get a nice 1:1 regulator instead for far less money. I, and many others use the Aeromotive 1:1 adjustable regulator that you can get from summit for 120 bucks and it is rock steady. Building and setting up the 8 injector system definately takes a lot of time and patience, but is well worth the results in my opinion.
