well, im heading over to justin99rs' house tommorow sometime to help on his turbo install, and im wondering if anyone has any helpful hints or anything. its an HRC stage 2, BTW.

any trouble w/ oil leaks from the pan or turbo? any conflicts w/ the radiator or hoses? does the piping line up pretty well? are the instructions pretty easy to follow?

i feel as if im "jumping" into the turbo world w/ this project, so im apreciative of any advice at all. from what i have learned, it shouldnt be too bad, though. ill be going turbo (with a different car) in antoher 3 months or so, so this should be a great learning experience. ;)

^^^^thanks!!! ill bring over the dremel for sure, and beer should be plentiful. ;) ill let justin deal with the gasket sealent, that costs money. what alll did you use the dremel on, BTW? TIA!

You need to cut a hole for the intercooler outlet. It comes out right below the fusebox. I tried a hole saw but that didn't work. A Dremel with a cutting disk did the job just fine.

Other than that, normal everyday tools will get the job done.

Ahh yes the all mighty dremel. I have the rotozip which made things so much easier. I couldn't take the stock downpipe off because it was rusted on by the cat. So what I did was pulled the dp down as far as I could and with the rotozip and carbide wheel...I cut away. Take the radiater and fan off. It will give you so much more room to play. Soak those stock bolts that are going to come off in wd40 and liquid wrench 12 hours prior to you guys starting your project. When some of those bolts don't come off, use your head. I learned that strenght is not always the problem solver. Use leverage. Things get too tough, find a long crow bar or pipe to slide over the ratchet and let physics do the work. Beer will make it even more fun. I'll tell you right now, the turbo is very straight forward and fuel system is just as easy. The only time consuming part will be taking apart those rusty stock bolts. Let us know how things are going. I miss installing my turbo and rebuilding the engine. Anybody in my area need help? You supply the beer, pizza and sister and I'm there!

my only suggestion for you as it was my only problem is tighten everything that has to do with the oil for the tubo really good. Because I had a few oil leaks from the oil feed line and then my oil pan was leaking, well it is leaking. Also make sure to check where you are going to drill the oil return line, I got lucky and had barely enough room for the hose.

I used the dremel for the cutting of the plastic to get the IC piping through and also to shave down that nasty 3rd nut on the HRC downpipe (DR1665's idea and it worked like a charm)

Great Scott! You just gave me an idea Uber! You're a genius! I will use my rotozip to shorten that 3rd dp bolt. You da man homey! Man all this time and the answer was right there in my tool box. I need to stop smoking crack.

its actually a star 2 kit....any words of wisdom for that one?

Remember, to get a big ole Drill bit for that oil drain in the oil pan. I don't remember the size. And also the 1 and 1/16th deep sensor socket to remove the oil sensor in the back of the block.
