48502, Wiring Gauges to Dimmer switch ...
Posted by techboy, May-10-03 06:30 PM
I did my turbo install today and I wired my gauges into the dimmer switch like the manual suggested. When I turned on the car tonight though I had no dash lights - so I obviously did something wrong. I ran the black (power) to black/yellow of the dimmer and I ran the white (neutrals) to the green of the dimmer. I thought that was the manual was saying, but obviously not. So what'd I do wrong, are they reversed? I know most guys tie them into the cigarette lighter, I guess maybe I should have just done that. TIA

It's kinda nice having them wired into the dimmer b/c when you dim with the lights, the gauges dim too (no kidding). Not that I have ever used my dimmer in the 4 years I've had my car .....

Well ... not quite Jim. I have the kit on the car back together. (finally, I had alot of "other" work done while it was apart - it's been a month now). However, I did not get to the fuel system part of the install yet. So maybe next weekend. We'll see how it goes.
