48352, Tuning and Palm datalogging? Should I get it? Posted by RxR_Eclipse, May-08-03 05:21 AM
Alright guys. Im thinking about buying a palm m100. And some software and cable to make it all work to tune my car with. Is anyone using this currently? And does it give all the data I need? There is a guy who lives near here that has one for sale for $50. And the software and cable are another $50. Is this worth it?

I have the pocketlogger (www.pocketlogger.com) and I love it. It saved me many many many times. Its actually really useful, it reads all the info you'll need to tune. Its got the short term FT, long term FT, MAP pressure, timing advance, o2 voltages, and other usefull stuff (i cant remember it all). Plus you get the ability to diagnose and clear CEL lights, the pocketloggger has all the codes in its program so it wont just throw out a number it will actually tell you what the CEL is.

pocketLogger saved my ass just yesterday. I would just be careful about whether or not you're getting legit software. digital tuning doesn't mess around with bootlegs and they won't support it at all. Make sure you get serial numbers and all that. www.pocketlogger.com

Pocketlogger is def worth every penny. If there is one beef i have with it, is the damn numbers are hard to read from being so small. This makes self-tuning in real time very difficult, not to mention dangerous hehe..having a helper in the passenger seat when tuning makes it much easier. The pocketlogger can read:
STFT LTFT coolant temp intake air temp timing advance o2 sensor voltage MPH RPMS MAP sensor Throttle position
Can read and erase CEL's, and of course datalog runs. Its a pretty cool :)

Yes. I have used this on a 95 Eclipse GS, and it worked fine. The only thing is I could only get about 5-6 samples a second, other than my 16-17 samples a second on my 98. It must have to do with the 95's being obd1 and 2 compliant(the ECU is different also).

John and Mike have been looking all over Phoenix for a 2GNTer with an auto to do some testing. So far, we've all got 5spds. I've seen a guy around who I'm pretty sure has an auto and I'm going to try to track him down this weekend to see if he wants to join the board, or at least volunteer for some datalogging. Keep your fingers crossed! :thumbsup

Let me know how this turns out for you. I will be in dire need of some datalogging methods very soon, and this seems like a very good way of doing it (palm + pocketlogger). Keep me informed.

Worth every penny. John is the pocketlogger poster child at 16 frames a second :P
Too bad it didnt work on my SRT-4. John's gotta bug the crap outta his boss for that.
