48290, 2.2L & Turbo'd --- Anyone?
Posted by BlitzdEclipse99, May-07-03 07:41 AM
Has anyone actually turbo'd a 2.2L yet? If so how'd it work out? Here's the reason I'm asking, I ordered my HAHN Stage 2 w/FMIC, the 2.2L block, SFMU and missing link, injectors, gauges, etc... basically everything to go Stage 3. I was just curious as to if anyone had a similiar setup and could give me hints as to what I'm in for. I know the 2.2L won't offer a huge improvement, but hey I had the money so why not go for it. TIA!!

Well acctually yes it will help a lot. When you increase the displacement it increases the HP for all your other mods. I have the 2.2L and a star kit (can't boost for another 1200 miles though) I'll let you know when I boost it, how it feals. I think Glacius also is running the 2.2L but He has not answerd my e-mails. I am going with the 8 inj. setup though.

actually just replied to yer e-mail kirby, been kinda busy finishing up some projects :)

Yes, I'm running the 2.2 with a stage 2 right now, have the 034 efi and 48lb mustang injectors ready, just need the rail and harness to hook 'em up.

I felt beautiful gains with the 2.2. My car equally prepped actually pulled an identical turbo 5spd on the highway, and is a straight monster out the hole (i'm an automatic)

once the injectors go in and what not i'm going to step up to about 12psi daily and 18 ready on scramble. Go higher on race fuel, but 18 should be enough for me on pump gas :)

go to http://members.cardomain.com/glacius331 for a few pics of my bottom end and while we were installing it. even more pics (though not 56k friendly) at http://www.asog.net/glacius/newmotor/

My bad bro, I didn't mean for that to read like it does. You can disregard most of the e-mail I just sent back then.....lol If you need a fuel rail and can't find it you can get one from Bob Kise pretty cheap. Or you can go to MS recycling, and they will sell you the harness and rail together for the same price that bob gives for the rail alone. Just wanted to tell you incase you had not explored yet. www.msrecycling.com/default.htm Well If I have my 8 inj in before you I'll let you know my settings.... lol

I have the turbo 2.2L also. Running 415cc's and SFMU, DIS-2, etc etc etc. I am in the same boat as Kirby and cannot boost for another 1200 miles. I am gonna be driving my A$$ off to get those miles tho. Hoping to see some good times outta the motor.

The 2.7L is a stroked 2.4L. Noone on this board has this engine yet - and only a handfull have actually swapped to a 2.4L block. You would need to do this(2.4L swap) in order to run the 2.7L stroker that they sell. It's not listed for the Eclipse - look in the Neon section.

Any clue on the hp or cc difference between the 2.2L stroker & the 2.7L stroker.
