ok i know that this is discussed in numerous threads before but i would like to hear some of your opinions. i am running about 9.5-10psi with 415cc injectors vortech s-fmu and s-afc. my egts never go above 1400 and from what i have read 1600 is about the max you should take it. i am about to take a three hours trip this weekend and i was wondering do u think it would be safe to drive that far. i also have a 10 hour drive coming up in a few months im not sure if boost is safe for long trips. i usually dont boost to much on the highway because thats when your egts rise. by the way this is on stock internals. i have read that 9psi is about the limit with the star kit unless u have upgraded fuel parts. with these parts do u think 10psi is to much. i have heard of people sayin they would run 12psi but thats way to much. and others sayin they would only run 7psi so im confused. i will be gettin a rebuild im just trying to make it till the end of summer. thanks for any advice please

In my opinion, 8psi is the MAX I would run on stock internals. Anything more, I don't care how well your tuned, is skating on thin ice. The engine will fail.

Few have ran 10psi or even 12psi...but if you find them now I bet you their stock internals are already gone.

Intercooled, with EGT's and fuel in check, don't go over 8psi if you want your engine to last.

i agree w/ them, but to address your other question, you should be fine driving long distance w/ any boost unless, of course you're actually in boost for the whole time. normal highway driving should be fine. most of the time you probably won't even see boost.

k thanks i was a little worried about driving the long distances i really wanted that question answered. im just confused because some of the older people on the forum and others from the past have stated that 10psi ok with fuel and some have even said 12-13 now that is way to much until i rebuild but also many say 8psi is about the max they would go. i know a couple neon 420a boys running 12psi.

I used to run 10-11 psi everyday all the time for about 8 months...I did the rebuild just incase but when I took everything apart, everything was still in perfect condition.But you never know.

Impressive...but I still wouldn't recommend it. That is just pushing the limits of stock internals..and the odds are against you, imo.

Indeed. However, I think that with the proper fuel tuning, and very careful monitoring, that once could safely attain 10 psi of boost on stock internals. You're just going to wear them down faster. Much faster.

yeah 9psi. is fine on stock i did it for 2 yrs. pistons were pretty when I took 'em out even resold 'em.
Only replaced cuz I'm running 16psi on forged ones

I guess it comes to common sense and what you want to do to your car. Motors have gone at 12psi and also at 4psi. I can say no turbo 420A is exactly the same. In my case I'll only do it knowing my car is running great and I have 105 octane in the tank as added security. :D
