are they inserted w/ the long end in or out? also, should i use any thread lock on them?

Long end out. I personally wouldn't put thread locker on ANY exhaust bolts.

oops I put the long end in I didn't want the studs to stick out that far I dont' think it really matters but I think the flat spot on it is for your visegrips and a place for the manifold to rest on, just try to make it look like the other 2 studs you got on there :P
someone said to put a nut on the stud and put it in like that haha I tried to do it and torque it and the nut got stuck on it so don't try that just get some visegrips and have it bit on the flat spot.

Yeah that's called double nutting (insert dirty joke) It works real good when the studs in too far to get the vise grips on the flat spot. But yeah I just put them in like the stock ones and they were short end in.

just installed 'em... short end in seems to make them the same size as the other 2 in there. worked well.
