47045, Misfire after a race
Posted by DSMRoadster, Apr-19-03 05:45 PM
I took off on Porche Boxter and right when I got on the highway my car started bogging. Around 3-4k rpm at WOT the bogging would start. But when the boost kicks in it goes away. I come home and change my spark plugs, the old ones had extreme carbon build up. Well I started my car up and for some reason black smoke was just pouring out the tail pipe and it sounded like it was about to shut off. It idled around 200rpm. I stepped on the gas and let it run for a while which about 5-7 minutes and now it's ok. I revved it a little more and get a CEL 43 which is the infamous misfire. Spark plugs are brand new and wires are brand new. Anyone else want to put some insight?

well it's not the map, so it's either O2 or coil. Going to autozone later on to have it checked out.

I used to keep and extra set of plug wires around for this very reason. I went through a few sets of them cause they were always going bad and causing studdering at 3 - 4K rpm.
