I have six gauges... A/F Ratio, Boost, EGT, Fuel Pressure, Oil Pressure, and Tranny Temperature. I'm trying to decide the most ideal location to mount each of them based on gauge monitoring.

I'm thinking A/F Ratio, Boost, and EGT in my triple gauge pod. Fuel Pressure and Oil Pressure in my gauge cluster bezel. And Tranny Temp custom mounted where the cig lighter used to be.

What do you turbo guys think? Will this setup put them in locations in which they're easy to view?

I wanna try and get mine to fit under the radio. I have the regular sized head units so I've got space under it. I wanna fit 3 gauges under there. Anyone try this yet?

Where did you get an electronic fuel pressure gage, and how much?

Sorry, this is a little off topic, but I don't want to start a whole new thread about it.

My question is, what is the difference between these mechanical and electronic gauges? I know what functions I need to cover.. A/F, Boost (for when I actually get around to getting a turbo system), EGT, and fuel pressure. Which kind should I buy? Another quesiton is, when you buy gauges, do they come with the probes/sensors needed to function? Sorry if these questions sound sophmoric to you pros :).

the mechanical gauges sense at the gauge, with an electronic guage there is a sending unit that sends a signal to the actual gauge.

they come with the sending units.

autometer seems to be the best as far as quality/price.

Do most of you guys use mechanical boost gauges? How do you hook it up (not that I need to, but out of curiousity)? I'm assuming you have to run a rubber tube with boost pressure in it to your gauge? That sounds like an easy way for a hose to leak and lose boost pressure. Anyone care to enlighten me as to how a mechanical boost gauge actually works?

that's exactly how it works.. you run a vacuum line from the intake manifold all the way to the gauge.

Well I guess that answers that. Thanks. While I'm learning how gauges work, how about an air/fuel gauge? I have seen that it connects to an O2 sensor wire on the ECU, but does that wire have all the neccesary information for the gauge? By the "sound" of it, O2 sensor should just measure oxygen, not fuel, so how would the gauge know how much fuel the engine is getting? Sorry for the lame questions, I'm just bored so I may as well learn something new today.

starting on my tripple pillar from top: EGT, boost, then fuel pressure. On the guage bezel left to right: Oil pressure, then blinky light A/F gauge. I like the setup. I want the gauges i need to monitor easily on the tripple pillar, EGT being closest and most visible to me.

dang dude you got too many gauges its like your driving an airplane :P you can't stare at all of them during a run :P
