45651, 3000GT VR4 fuel pump? Posted by CrashedMax, Mar-27-03 09:51 AM
I know a lot of GST guys are using the fuel pump from a 3000GT VR4 since it has a better fuel flow rate. How well would it work with the Accel inline pump with the HRC Stage 2 kit? I can pick one up for $25 from a buddy of mine, or should I just get a Walboro 255?

gs-t guys use the 3000gt vr4 fuel pump :wary
most 4g63 guys including my self use the walbro 255lph pump.... haven't heard of any using the 3000gt pump.... and i come from the area where some of the fastest DSM in the country are......
if you want a in-tank fuel pump just get the walbro for the 420a from www.extremepsi.com it's 108.00 shipped and it fits right in......and you can use in with the in-line pump

okay I know some that are using it. I just want to be safer running 8psi than I am now. I thought for that cheap I could use it for now and upgrade to a Walboro when I build my internals and up the boost. Then just sell the VR4 pump for $50 on ebay.

The 3000GT VR-4 stock fuel pump is an adequate unit. It actually is a Denso pump and can be easily installed on your 2G. It will fit the fuel pump assembly, but you will have to re-route the high pressure hose by either making it longer, modify the assembly or pump. Here is a spec comparison between the the 3KGT VR-4 and Walbro 255:
3000GT VR-4: 180 lph @43psi @12v Walbro 255: 229.02 lph @43psi @12.5v
As you can see, the Walbro 255 outflows the 3KGT by almost 50 lph @ 43psi. If you don't have the funds for a Walbro or are just buying the pump to quiet down the inline pump, grab the 3KGT. Just be warned that the Walbro will possibly make the inline pump quieter since it is feeding the inline more fuel (or it may not make a sound difference). Good luck.

teh vr-4 pump will be fine to feed the accell inline pump. I use my stock vr-4 pump from my 94 R/T TT to feed my paxton GSS inline pump on my car. works fine. requiers slightly extensive modificatioin as the vr-4 pump is physically "bigger" (about twice as wide and a little taller) than eclipse pump. A.D.P. "...If you do too much, people become dependant. If you do to little, people loose hope. If you do it right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all." bring it on...........
