Hey, I got acouple questions I need answered.

(1). On Vortech's website I see only one SMFU, part# 6X100-001. Is this all I need to buy with it or are there some springs or something else I should know about or have to get?

(2) HRC kit is coming next month. Are there any general maintnence things I can do to help insure my motor has a smooth transition? I know a complete rebuild would be best, but I wont have the money for that. Are there any gaskets, belts, random other parts that I should replace or at least check before the turbo? Its a 96 w/113K on it. I've already changed out spark plugs and wires. Thanks!:thumbsup

You may be able to find the SFMU on Summitracing's website for a bit cheaper than directly at Vortech. I know its around 289 at summit, so dont know there. The one though summit will come with all the disks, rings, vac restrictor, springs, and manual. The bleed valve is optional, but i suggest getting it for fine tuning your boosted fuel pressures. The SFMU from Vortech will come with everything too.

Have you had your timimg belt and its parts changed at 60K? If not, then you may want to do that. Do a compression test, oil change(you will do this anyway when installing the turbo, you take off the oil pan), and one range colder spark plugs. A new fuel filter is a good idea also. New PS and AC, and alternator belts might be a good idea also if those are old. Maybe a coolant flush too if that hasnt been done in the last 30k or so. I *think* the HRC kit comes with a new exaust mani gasket, but if not, then pick one of those up too. That should be it i suppose.

Thanks Xtreme. You've helped me out in the past with some questions I've had. I aprrechiate it. :thumbsup I bought the car with 96K on it, a timing belt change may have been done, I've had no mechanical problems with the car since I bought it a 1yr and 1/2 ago. I've inspected the belt as best I could for signs of wear and I haven't noticed anything suspicious.

Start running the 92 or 93 octane (if you arent already) to make sure that all of the low octane gas is gone when you turbo. You dont want to boost with low octane as that may cause excessive knock / detonation.

the hrc kit does not have an exaust mani gasket. Thats about the only thing it dosent come with besides tools! :+

Yeah I would buy a new exhaust manifold gasket and oil pan gasket. I just ordered mine from NAPA. Not expensive.

what ^^ said. i talked to brad at hahn yesterday, and he said the only thing he suggests is an exhaust manifold gasket. you can get em pretty cheap from any satan or dealership. otherwise what xtremers said. plugs one range colder, and fluid changes.

make sure you start running premium gas with your next fillup!

by the way, you cant really look at a timming belt to see if its still good...even if it was changed at 60,000 you said your over a 100 so you should prob change it to be safe.
