just to be sure... you do have to remove the stock fpr when using the sfmu, correct? also, what kind and where can i get a good high flow inline fuel filter, b/c i'm just going to remove the whole assembly(fpr and fuel filter). tia.

Well not sure what year your car is, but for some 96's, and all 97+, the stock FPR is attached to the fuel filter, back by the right rear tire area, up on the framerail. If you want to remove your stock fuel filter,then you are all set, as the FPR is right on the end of the fuel filter. And yes, you do remove the stock FPR.

hehe... matt it's great when you come on, cuz you respond to all my posts :+ . yes, i have the stock fpr in the back(97), and i was just thinking since i'm going to be removing th fpr i should just replace the fuel filter w/ an inline one. i'm not sure of what kind to get though. i think matt bush did this. anyone know of a high flow inline fuel filter?

Hehe, well it seems that i have the most the answers to your posts :) Cool how that works out isnt it? Hehe, well i suppose you can search summit's site, i know i have seen some in their catalog not long ago when i was checkin it out. There isnt too much special about them really..Just get one that flows well i guess.

haha, u da man. i took a look at summit's fuel filters. got a couple questions though. there are some that are like $14 and some that are around $80. only the higher priced ones seems to give flow ratings. do you think it would be safe to get one around $20-30? also, some say "for use w/ carb systems", but i don't see the difference in fuel filters between carb and fuel injected systems. i don't see why i couldn't use one of those. am i missing something?

i removed mine for the 8 inj setup..i got my fuel filter at Advanced..dont remember how much it costs but i cant see spending a lot on a fuel filter...just replace it every 4 or 5 oil changes if you want the most safety...b/c the fpr goes back into the tank w/ its return i had to plug that up..the only bolt i could find that late was actually a wheel stud..right pitch and at the time we were doing it lowes was closed...the filter is retard level work and couldn't be easier..just dont loose the copper washers and make sure you put something down if you dont want your garage smelling like friggin gas for the next week...good luck..its really easy..fpr is shapped like a mushroom w/ a clearish cap on it

This is what I use. It's just a little canister style filter. Like $7 at Jegs.

thanks, i just didn't know if it needed to have a certain flow rate, or certain filter element. anyway, i'm kinda having trouble finding one that is for 1/4" fuel hose, since that's the stock size(i believe). i found one at jegs, like spectre or something, but it looks really cheap and is glass.

Make sure it is for fuel injection. The ones for carbs are only rated at like 7psi. I wouldn't buy a glass one though as it will probably be hanging outside of the car.

Here's the one I have. It's 3/8" but I have mine clamped to the stock hardlines and it works great. It's never leaked or anything like that.

Nope. You still need fuel pressure at idle. Leave it in there.

If you are installing an adjustable FPR then you need to get rid of the stock on? otherwise you don't get the full range of the FPR.

Yes do NOT get an carb fuel filter they are rates fo an 8psi fuel system not a 50psi plus system.

The picture I posted doesn't show that too well. Here's a better one so you can see that it fits good. The threaded fitting is pushed way back and there is a lip on the end of the line. You can't see it obviously but it's a little to the left of the clamp. So the clamp has that to rest against so there's no way it's coming off. Just be VERY careful when taking that hard line off. Don't let the pump side of it move or you could break it. Then you have to buy a new pump assy :nono
