I'm planning on buying a Star Stage 2 and was wondering what parts on it I should replace. I've seen to get a Vortech SFMU. So what parts should I not get with the kit, and what should I replace them with?

All the parts are fine. SOme can be improved on, like the VC1 - a missing link would be better. The Walbro fuel pump isn't the best for more than 5psi or so on stock injectors simply because it can't keep up the flow at those pressures.

Other than that, i still run most of the STAR components my kit came with, even the FMU. I just recalibrated it with a 3:1 disk when i added 440cc/min injectors.

You don't HAVE to change anything. i've known people that have run for quite a long time on a VC1 without any trouble. Some people just like the extra adjustability of an SFMU (i'd see it as more of a pain in the ass myself).

What fuel pump would you recommend? I've heard the Holley 255lph HP fuel pump was good.

Holley makes the walbro. Same pump. I'd actually recommend an inline - i run an AirTex inline. Someone posted a while back they actually found them for sale at AutoZone or a store of that ilk.

The walbro is fine for 5-6psi on stock injectors. I wouldn't run more than that on it, unless you've upgraded to 30lb injectors or bigger.

So, If I upgrade my injectors I should have no problems with the Walbro fuel pump?
