A few hours from driving back home MWC onvinced me to go ahead a mount it "mount it" "a few bolts" "10-15 min" "just fablricate an L bracket". Well he forgot to mention the bumper support and a few bolts (My guess you dont have any of that installed anymore). Anyway an hr later I had a mounting bracket and the bumper off. Fair enough but after mounting the intercooler I thought I could just bolt everything back up. WRONG! I thought being a small FMIC the bumper support would not need any modification. Is it just me or an I the only one who needed to cut the bumper support to make the starion fit. After cutting the top of the support I still couldn't quite get it to fit. After using every bit of usefullness from the dremel and about 5 mini circular blades. I just put the front end on without the bumper support and hope not to have any frontal crashes until I can cut the bottom and put it back on. Looks cool though. I'lltake some pics soon. Oh yeah right side of radiator is clogged all up (scolding hot on one side, cold on the other). Tommmorow I have to get it snaked. if that doesn't work there going to put a new one on. Then I can really run it hard.

Been there , done that...

I couldn't go without the ole' bumper support, Stan, so I cut it and it all worked out better than expected.

After I had the inlets and outlets of the starion i/c modified to 2.25" ((1) 90 degree aluminum bend from RRE) and placed them in similar locations as the STAR FMIC (moving the driver's side outlet downward towards the bottom and capping off the stock outlet), I was ready to mount. I also had a L bracket welded on the the middle of the top of the i/c.

As far as the bumper support, I cut it in two spots. Luckily, the bumper support is hollow and therefore was able to "contain" my top outlet side i/c pipe. First, I cut the driver's side of the bumper support. If you look at the bumper support directly from the driver's side as it angles towards you, I cut out enough of that side to allow my i/c pipe to fit through and go inside until it would bend downwards towards the i/c on the passenger side. Then, at the spot where the i/c pipe would make a 90 degree angle downwards to the i/c on the inlet side, I cut out some of the bottom of the bumper support, to again, fit the intercooler pipe.

Voila!... it all fit nicely. Even adding to how nicely it fit, when I put it all back together, the top of the starion i/c rubbed perfectly with the bottom of the bumper support creating a great friction fit. That starion i/c not only isn't going anywhere, it's perfectly level with the bumper support and the car itself. The bumper support in a sense provides a mounting station for the entire top side of the intercooler and retains a nice state of mind that it isn't going anywhere.

As far as cutting the bumper support, it'll cut nicely with a hacksaw. There's plenty of hollow space to fit any intercooler piping you will find as well.

lol, I totaly forgot about that bumper reinforcement S^$&&. I threw mine out. :)
I have had a aftermarket front for the most part of me owning my car. We did cut mickeys support and it fit afterwards no prob. As for the piping, I have yet to see piping from either kits that I fully agree with, cut here weld here too long here, I just think it would be better if we bought the kit with out the piping and ran it the way we wanted via a muffler shop. Plus we could decide on what size we wanted rather than settle for the 2"-2"1/4 the kits bring.

Im using a Modded starion intercooler right now (2.25" outlets)
mounted it perfectly without touching the bumper support..

Really! I probably could have got it to fit if I had 2 people (one on each side) push on the bumper reinforcment while I put the bolts in but by myself no way in hell.

Yeh i had my buddy help me out when i was putting the reinforcement back on. (Used a hammer to align it)

Is there room for the stock fog lights on a 97-99 when you have the intercooler on. I know a guy said he had to take the fogs off to fit the star intercooler on.
