I've called around shops to see if I could get mandrel bent piping custom made for a 1G sidemount. Some of them claim they don't do mandrel bent. Is this really a big deal? I know it will flow less efficiently but I only want 5-6 psi. Will non-mandrel bent piping still provide sufficient cooling for what I want? Thanks guys.

I use press bent piping, and it flows just fine at 9 psi that i was at. You can find mandrel bent piping from places like JC Whitney, and piece together you piping, then have it welded together, or use couplers to fit it all together. Very few shops have true mandrel benders, and they are like over 30,000 dollars +. Each die piece for diff diameter piping is in the thousands of dollars. Most muffler shops use press bent piping. Thats what i used.

Press bending gets worse as the angle of the bend increases. Since intercooler piping for a sidemount *usually* doesn't make any sharp bends, I would think press bent pipes would be okay.

It's more important to have a mandrel bent exhaust for our cars since they make all those 90 degree bends. :P

When i got my exhaust done, the owner mentioned less than 10% reduction in flow from mandrel to press bends.
