Super20g, did you rebuild with stock compression?

I had my mechanic check my comp a few months ago while he was doing the timing belt for me. He said they were a solid 120 accrost the block. wtf! every post i have see is over 180!! mabye hes going by another unit or something. sorry to snake your post, just wondering! :thumbsup

if you have 120 across the board it's time to do a rebuild

Either that or he just made up a number and never checked the compression, you should ask him about that. You can go down to your local parts store and pick up a compression tester for 15 bucks or so. Then you can keep tabs on that type of stuff yourself. It is really easy to do, and it is nice knowing that you are on top of things.

Also my thought process goes something like this:
There are some things better left unknown.
I don't like to check my compression unless I am ready to rebuild, cause if you have no money and you get 50 psi in one cyl what are you going to do? You have to drive it to work to make that money right?

Hehe, if you have 50 psi on one cylinder, your're going to know it :) Car will ilde just a bit rougher. Yeah, those numbers are excellent. Now boost it!
