If I went to the track, and used the 110 octane, or whatever the hell they have there, how much boost could I run with stock internals? What other options would I have for gas, and how much boost? Thanks.

Higher octane gas burns "slower" (I think that's right) which allows you to run higher boost with less detonation. BUT, this does not change the fact that stock internals can't handle the PRESSURE of higher boost.

Is it just me or does 110 smell good?

110 octane is usually LEADED, make sure what you're getting is unleaded.

I ran ~13psi boost on 112 octane with stock internals, you could probably get away with 15-17 if you had bigger injectors and an safc.

Raising the boost on stock pistons means either you ALREADY have a built engine in your garage waiting to go in, or that you're just stupid and/or crazy.

It depends on what kind of turbo you have. Supposedly the rods are the weak point of failure. Tommyboy was bending stock rods at ~13psi. I'm not sure if he had a Star Kit or the HRC kit...but from what I gather, they should be alright until somewhere around 300 crank hp. So try to keep it under 300.

It's better to be safe than sorry unless you have $2k for a new motor. :wary. I run 8psi all day but even when I drop the 105 octane I won't go past 10psi. Just cause I am not ready for a rebuilt. And I figure if that won't win the race, than it's not worth it to prove something and in the process break something...:nono

Running with race gas will allow you to run higher boost and decreasing the chance of detonation, but if you still have stock internals, I wouldn't run over 10 psi. Even with a sufficient fuel system, the stock internals can't handle too much horsepower before piston rings and pistons lands start to crack/melt. That's just my opinion though.;)

and that much higher than 10 psi and one little ping can be enough to crack the ringlands.

I dont' think you couls "make" enough boost with a standard t3 turbo to outrun 110 octane gas
