Hello everyone, this is Cody, Jenni's boyfriend. I'm thinking about puttin' the happy gas on Jenni's Talon. I'm no stranger to boosting as I have 2 turbo AWD DSMs and my best 1/4 mile is an 11.52 so far in my 90 Talon, but squeezing is entirely new for me. Who makes nitrous kits exactly for the 420A? I don't want a univeral kit. The motor is stock except for the MLS head gasket I installed not too long ago, so I'm guessing from what I've read on here that I shouldn't go over a 75 shot? Also, is there an rpm based/throttle sensative kit instead of just hitting the button? I know there's a word for that kind of set up (progressive?) but I can't think of it. The wet kit is better than the dry, right? What all comes included with the kits, ie fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, etc? Her car is a 95 and I've heard that the fuel pressure is better than the 96+ cars, is this true? All we have done HP whise is an intake and underdrive pulley so far. I have a muffler off my old 95 Talon TSi that we plan on installing soon and also should have a ported TB soon. Anything else that should be done before adding a nitrous kit?

No one REALLY makes car specific nitrous kits. What nitrous companies do is make several kits and then list cars under which kit suites them best. There are a few popular cars that have kits specifically for them (mustangs, Camaro's Vipers ect). Most manufacturers dont even have specififc kits for Hondas so you know the 420A does't have one. Kit 5208 from NOS is specific to the turbo talon (and a half dozen other turbo cars) but is what we use for a wet kit from NOS. Dry kits # 5122 5123 or 5124 will work the same. NX Express and Nitrous Works are univeral as well. Vemons makes kits completely computer controlled kits but cost $1400 and ZEX kits wont work.

There are progressive controllers from NOS and Nitrous Express from $300 and up that are based on time and percentage of nitrous. Venoms kit can be programmed to run the same way via included computer software and laptop.

Depends of who you ask. I've had dry for yrs with no problems and my A/F gauge agrees.

If its a wet kit none of that. You wont need any of that for a 75hp shot unless her orig is fualty/not up to par. A wet kit comes with basically two solinoids, bottle, fogger nozzle, jets, switches (interior and throttle) and lines. for dry add a nitrous regulator (basically a fuel pressure riser activated by the nitrous system), subtract the fuel solinoid and add another nitrous solinoid

More user freindly with its conventional return line system. Allows fuel pressure regulators to be installed without running a return line. Fuel filter and factory regulator is also under the hood for better access. Pressure wise they both do what the factory regulator tells then (45-47psi).

Possibly ignition, wires and spark plugs. The ignition isn't neccessary but hell you have a 11sec talon you know the deal.

Like stated above an ignition isn't neccessary but I would recomend good wires and one range colder plugs, also always run 93 octaine gas when running the nitrous.

my system isn't thru a switch or a progressive controller...it basically has to hit 3 conditions and it'll shoot (wet)...1 the system has to be armed (a switch on my dash), 2 i have to be flooring it (there's a limit switch on my throttle), and 3 the engine has to be over 3400 rpms (theres a rpm monitor in the engine that'll turn on the nitro when it is high enough)....if not it won't fire, easier and safer to use than a simple spray button

hmm....RPM monitor....i like that....a lot.......what company makes that and do you have to have thier brand kit to use it? i'm planning on going with NOS brand

rpm trigger attached to one of the other switches (available through NOS or NX)

Kits dont come with spray buttons. If you want that you have to add it yourself. The only difference between your activation and a basic kit is the rpm trigger.

Ok, that's a lot of help everyone! Thanks. :) What are the pros and cons between the wet and dry systems? And what's the difference?

I mentioned to Jenni this morning about my plans for her car and her eyes got so wide I thought they were gonna pop out! :) She was like, "But I thought nitrous was a bad thing?", or something to that effect. So I reassured her that I've been researching it and that I've changed my mind about nitrous. I myself used to make all the typical judgements about nitrous, but of course all I've ever seen out street racing are mostly bottle fed Mustangs that weren't properly set up and would blow their air boxes off or blow head gaskets. So we both want to make her car faster but we're currently in the process of buying new wheels and tires for her Talon, so I can have mine back (!), plus I'm also putting a bigger Garrett T04E turbo on my 90 Talon to hopefully get well into the 10s and that involves a new exhaust manifold and downpipe, so a turbo kit for her Talon is not "cost effective" just yet and nitrous just might be. :)

well it could mess up your engine, just like turbo could, but if you're careful and read the previous safety-regarding posts (i'm sure you have) you SHOULD be fine
