43676, I need some NOS help please
Posted by Quest, Jul-16-01 01:32 PM
Now, I am really confused. I have a 1997 Eclipse. I have been doing some homework and have come to the conclusion that I should get the wet kit. However, I was at a so called guru's house, and he told me to get the dry kit. Then, I called NOS, and their guy said even tho people recommend the wet kit, I could run the dry kit, depending on my fuel pump, and other things. He asked me a bunch of questions that I couldn't answer. I am new to all of this. When I was at my friends house, he told me that I run the risk of detonation with a wet kit.. I thought this was true for the dry kit, which is why most recommend the wet kit for the 97 eclipse. Please somebody, anybody help me out. I am really confused now.

To run a dry kit you would have to redo a lot of your fuel system to use it, because of where your fuel pressure regulator is located. You have to run a wet kit on 96+ cars because of this.
A wet kit does not "cause" detonation. It is actually somewhat safer to run a wet kit because of the fuel added with the nitrous. With the dry kit you have to rely on the fuel pressure regulator to up the fuel pressure while running nitrous.
I'm sure you have read over this site of what works and what doesn't. I have seen no one here blow themselves up "yet". Just make sure you are using it properly and that is why we are here.

Has to be the wet kit. I tried using a zex dry kit and there isn't a fuel pressure regulator under the hood so i couldn't hook it up. I think the wet kit works better anyway.

OK, so it looks like I will be getting the wet kit. I called NOS again to find out which kit I should get. He gave me the model number for a kit I never heard of. So for the record, what is the number for the wet kit? 5208? I want to be able to go into the store and say I want this specific kit.
