4351, I just ordered a HRC turbo stage 2 today........ Posted by loeric18_2000, Apr-27-01 01:41 PM
hey, guys I just ordered a HRC S16G turbo stage 2 with a large FMIC and upgraded to HKS SSQV from HRC. What's the next mod? Is it worth to get apexi S-AFC($300) and AVCR boost controller($409). Are the prices good? How much peformance gain do I expect from these mods. Do I need to have professionals hook them up and tune them? Also, is greddy turbo timer($70) good? Thanks for the helps guys. I'll admit up front I have not looked into this yet, so apologies if this question has an obvious answer.

:O Jeez, that's a big step for no research. To answer your questions, you will see massive gains. It'll probably take 3 seconds off your 1/4 time. Yes it needs to be installed by a mechanic, preferably a tuner of some sort in a shop with some experience. Next engine mods will be to build your engine up (ie pistons, rods, maybe cams, valve job, etc.) The HRC stage 2 system is capable of 8 psi of boost. You don't want to go over that without those engine mods. Also, it's a good idea for you to buy a Jumptronix Air/Fuel ratio gauge, and possibly an exhaust gas temperature gauge (EGT). Those are crucial to making sure your turbocharged car remains happy. (Read through the turbo forum here for more info)
I highly recommend some SERIOUS research on your part before having your system installed. Without the proper knowledge, you won't be able to monitor your engines condition. Your turbocharged car will run best right before the pistons turn to goo and flow out of your exhaust pipe, in other words, it's very hard to tell if your eninge is happy or not without the proper tools.
Hope this helped some...Good Luck!!! :7
