43474, NOS Fogger System Posted by mjbd, Oct-24-01 09:41 AM
Anyone here run the NOS fogger system? I have a 95GS, and after I get my HRC Turbo kit pushing my car to 400hp, I am thinking of putting on the NOS fogger system(up to 250HP). Would this be a real beotch to install? Recommend the system or not?

HAHAHAHAAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Okay the 420A to 400hp with a Stage 5, maybe but a 250 shot on this car?!?! NO WAY!! You'll blow up faster than a raver on 5 beans!
The only reason to use nitrous on a turbo car would be to help the large stage 5 turbo to spool up. If you want to do a lot of NOS, you would want to have built internals, direct port nitrous and a lot of fuel!
In stock form our engine can handle about a 75 shot. There is 1 person with built internals running a 125 shot direct port but it would take some MAJOR tuning to use more than that.

Yea, I know everything you just told me. I plan on going threw the stages with HRC and then NOS. I already know that I will have to install forged pistons, rods, ect. I was thinking of going to stage III or IV and then putting on the fogger system(set at 100-150hp), or going to stage V and run a standard dry NOS kit(40-60, when set at 60 you get 75 if you have a turbo). Its a ways off, but I like to talk about things I plan to do, regardless of how far off they are.

Building the internals and running a high shot I can see but a turbo puts a lot of stress on the car and nos puts a lot of stress on a car. The 2 combined probably won't work for long. If you built up the car with the lower compression pistons needed for high boost but had no turbo, you may be able to run a HIGH shot like you are talking about. Most guys that run nitrous with there turbos use them to leave the line with power and to make the huge turbo spool and it's usually a 50 - 100 shot.
Go for your dream for the car. Don't let me stop you, just know thats gonna be a LOT of time and tuning to get it right and not come apart on the dyno. Oh yeah, and that high of a shot on the street would be insane! I hope you are talking nitrous for the track only, right?

I might not even every get a NOS kit, just want something extra for the track. If I do end up getting a kit, it would probably be the standard 40-60hp kit, something extra for the tracks.

You dont need the NOS, trust me.. I am running HRC's Stage V setup and the 20g spools quick enough, I thought it would be laggy as hell but as long as your engine is tuned good, its not bad at all. I have a NOS fogger setup though, have never had the balls to hook it up though, but if you want it, I'll sell it to you, but remember that 28psi and a 100 shot of nos = need SPONSORS to keep rebuilding the engine.
I guess a 50 shot wouldnt be bad for spool up, but turbo engine stress is enough for me, it keeps me busy under the car all the time anyway... I'd hate to always be pulling the head... Leave that for Bill Hahn :-) -- Brad Rickard 98 GS HRC Stage V (nuff said)

Well I have been considering going with just engine upgrades, like header, exhaust, forged pistons, rods, ect. and a NOS fogger kit, but not sure how well that would work. What do you run in teh 1/4 mile with the Stage V turbo kit? How much are you selling the NOS kit for? Just curious...

I dont have any 1/4 mile runs yet, next season i'll be ready to give her a go. Bill ran a 11.53 in Stage V trim.
I have to find the manual so I can find which model the fogger system is and price it but I think it was $899. If I am right, which I think I am, then I think a fair price would be 750 with the intake manifold already drilled, pipes bent and ran into the distribution block, and the braded lines run off are ready for the solenoids to be taken out of the shrink wrap and screwed on as well as the rest of the kit. I think I am missing a few small fittings, but I have 98% it, and I also have about 30 different extra jets :-). The bottle is full and ready to spray some gas :-) Somebody hit me up and take this off of my hands. -- Brad Rickard brickardius@aol.com 98 GS HRC Stage V (nuff said)

Well, I was wrong, I paid 699 for the setup, my bad. I'll let it go for 600 shipped, the bottle is full, I will swap manifolds w/ you. -- Brad Rickard 98 GS HRC Stage V (nuff said)
