41962, where is the testport located
Posted by 99Silver1100, Mar-01-02 02:55 AM
sorry for such a newbie question, but my shop is asking $1200 for my whole nitrous setup!! Im just going to insatll it myself. Is the fuel rail located right under the intake mainfold? I see this black tube and what looks like a screw on the end of it. Is this where I tap it?
Also does anyone have any tips on installing nitrous?

Thanks everyone

1200!!!! gawd dam dude dont pay that crazy shiz do the install your self man we can help you if you have any questions... I am in the same boat you are I am going to install it myself.
yes the fuel rail is under the manifold and you use a valve stem puller on the screw thing and run the fuel line supplied with kit (shorter one) from there to the fuel solenoid.
quick question for you though which side is your screw on looking from the front left or right?

Isn't that pressurized? Or is it a valve and only opens after you screw it on?

yah thats why you have to depressurize the fuel system when you take it out.... take gas cap off or pull fuel pump plug and let car run until it dies...

What do you guys think is the hardest part of installing the kit? Any tips?

Thanks

when i took off the kit i didn't depressurize anything, all i did was unscrew it and replace the shreder valve inside of it. a lil fuel dripped out, but nothing major.

yeah thats what the guy at the auto store I got my valve puller from said... but I am just going to atleast unscrew the gas cap. Hey mitseclps you get that wiring information for me... I really need that specially where the grounding wire is for the 3 solenoid and wot switch.

thanks

fuel will squirt out, but no biggy. let me tell ya though, DO NOT lose that damn schrader valve!!! if you ever sell your kit its hard as hell to find one, at least it was for me around here...all the Mitsu dealers were like, "uhhhhh, you are gonna have to buy a whole new fuel rail, thats the only way ot get it" needless t osay i told em where to go. i ended up just capping it off, worked fine. and 1200 for a nitrous install is fing CRAZY! i wouldnt pay more than 150 for a shop to do it, its pretty simple.

JESUS CHRIST!!!,
whoever up the way there said to unplug the fuel pump and let the car run until it dies is wrong. that does allkinds of bad $hit to your PCM and not to mention that you will be emptying your entire fuel system and will have to draw vaccum to it to get it back to the injectors. Your PCM will say omfg! and try to dump more fuel into the mix, this will cause a contradiction of commands and may cause it to go into relearn.

hey! whoever tapped their fuel there please send me as much info as possible on how to do it. I tapped mine by cutting the rubber section of the fuel hose just before it connects to the rail and t-tapping there. if there is a better way please let me know.

thanx

simplest way, IMO, is to use the supplied fuel line(should have came with the wet kit) and tap it onto the test port. looking at the engine, its on the left side, on the end of the fuel rail. take off the cap, and use a schrader valve remover(same valve as what you put air in ur tires with) to take out the actual valve. screw one end of the supplied steel braided fuel line onto it, and the other into your fuel soelonid(sp?) and that should be all there is to you ur fuel tapping.

ok, thanx but ill hav to order another braided line to go from the soelonid to the nozzle. right
