How safe is nitrous on the street? Not in terms of damages to engine, but damages to myself. I hear that if you fire a shot at the wrong rpm, you can caused your engine to blow up and catch on fire. Someone told me that if you have a wrecked the nitrous will feed or cause a fire. Is this stuff true? Someone let my know.

I've heard tons of different opinions on this subject. I've heard the N2O we use isn't even flamable....hmmmmm I've heard the bottle will blow up, I've actually seen a CRX go up in flames with a Nitrous bottle in the back. Don't know if the nitrous had anything to do with it though. If it was that dangerous, I don't think anybody would even use it.

I wanted to buy some, because $500 is a hell of alot cheaper then a turbo kit. But, i don't want to kill myself. That work suck.:D So i was thinking of saving up for the turbo kit after i rebuild my engine.

worst that has happen is a burnt valve becuase i sprayed with not enough fuel in my car. other than that it has been completely fine. check your spark plugs often, get a fuel safety switch and a a/f gauge will help a little as well. Its all in the hands of the user. If you are responsible with it you should have no problems. In the end i would save for a turbo though.

I not really worried about myself messing up. I concerned about some stupid driver wrecking into me. ALOT of bad drivers here.

n2o is pretty safe if you know how to handle it. for instance you here about a bottle blowing up............because some genious left his bottle blanket on an it expanded the gases to more than the bottle could withstand, don't do that turn your bottle heater off. now as for rpm's it's highly recommended to use above 2 grand so there's enough fuel that you do not run lean, plus n2o is best used when the engine is putting out it's maximum potential (in reference to fuel and air), running lean with n2o is bad so don't do it(highly recommended) :thumbsup . there's a couple more negatives but i can't remember them at this time, if i do i'll put them in later.

N2O is completely non flammable until you hit 1400 degrees and the nitrogen atom desolves. If the bottle does blow because someone hits you in the rear, it will be the loudest whoosh you have ever heard but then its done. It won't blow man, don't worry about it. I have sprayed everything I have ever owned and wrecked a few and never had a problem. Do some searches, there are some extremely smart people on the web to teach you everything you will ever want to know about it. If you have any odd ?'s about it. I can answer most.

N2O is completely safe as long as you use it correctly. Jus make sure that you have sufficient fuel because lean is bad! Its also a good idea to have an A/F or EGT gauge to check your mixture. I try to jet a little on the rich side and run a fuel pressure safety switch to cut the N2O if there is not enough fuel for some reason. Also you will want to run colder plugs. Keep in mind that there are lots of other little N2O goodies that you'll want to get like a purge kit, remote opener, heater, etc. You'll start with the basic kit and safety stuff nut you'll want more.. Trust me. ;)

What if my cars on fire, will the nitrous feed the fire?

Yes, If your car catches on fire and for some reason your bottle is expelling gas into the interior, the fire will burn a lot hotter. But, it is very hard to break those steel bottles, very hard. As for the bottle blanket being left on and the bottle exploding I would be more worried about shrapnel than the loud woosh.

1.) Do you think it would help to build some kind structure over the bottle to protect it form damage, and to protect me if the bottle were to explode?
2.) How hot does it have to be outside to cause the bottle to release the gas? Yesterday it was 108 degrees outside.

*most* bottles have a safty valve, so if you leave your heater on it will just leak a lil out of the valve, and if it does blow your bottle its gonna be the nozzle that comes off ;) the bottle isnt actually gonna explode:thumbsup
