Which turbo has the quickest spool-up time? I am trying to decide still. HRC or star. I hope to be boosting by next year. I want to get the body mods first. But I have that money saved already. I jus wanna know which spools up faster? I like the HRC super 16g, but I was thinking, would the star bb turbo spool up at lower RPM's?

From what I understand, the Super 16G from Hahn spools a tad sooner. Hahn hits full boost around 2700-3000 while the Star is in the 3000-3500 range. Sound correct guys? (of course, this also depends on other things, like amount of boost, backpressure after turbo, etc.)

I have a T3/T4 Ball Bearing and I get full boost at about 2,600rpms. And Thats without an Exhaust!! Ya, Don't laugh, I still have the stock exhaust cause I am VERY picky with the sound of my Exhaust:-)

I just tested my 0-62mph time and I got 5.9 sec at 4psi!! And I don't consider myself that good of a drag racer. yet.

Alot of that is due to the ball bearing option. In addition to a drastic decrease in spool-up time, a ball bearing turbo can withstand 50 times the loads of a typical turbo armed with a conventional thrust bearing.

could the bb option be added to the HRC super 16g?

...that they would include ball bearing options with thier turbos. They're expensive. If you were going to get a ball bearing turbo from HRC, i'd get the BB Super20g. Why spend the xtra money to get ball bearing if you're not going to go all out with it ?

The theoretical advantage of a BB S16G is some mad spoolup and low end, but I agree it would be more beneficial ona larger turbo. The BB is not actually THAT MUCH more really. It is going to cost me about $200 more or so to upgrade to a BB S20G over the standard S20G. The BB option will not rreally offer any improvements in power, just in theoretical spool time, which remains to be seen. I will try it to see what happens and I will have a S20G non BB to compare too, but I am putting this upgrade off until I have all my other new mods worked out and finished which means I will not have it until after the shootout. I hope to do well on the S16G anyway.

...to you current 16G Thrust bearing, as the 20G BB *should* spool at about that same speed with even more power possible
