I'm trying to learn all I can about running NOS v.s running turbo, as well as both. How many degrees would I have to retard the ignition for running a 75 shot? How many degrees for boost? And how much more for both? Just curious. Use any senario you want to post a reply.

Well you can run a 75 shot with out any retard. With nitrous and turbo I Couldnt tell ya. but with turbo I'm pretty sure if you stay with a stage 1 or 2 you shouldnt have to either. I'm still learning about boosting so I'm probably not to much help in that department.

You may want to read up on the ignition posts in the turbo forum. I've been keeping an eye in there and it seems most problems due to ignition(detonation) happen somewhere between 15 and 18 lbs of boost on low comp(8.5:1) built internals. My best guess on stock internals(9.5:1) would be that you need an ignition upgrade somewhere around 13lbs or so to be safe - but thats only a guess because it seems like most don't go above 8 or so on stock internals AND when they build-up, lower compression is the preference.

As far as nitrous goes, I'm never in this thread but I'm thinking about getting into it for a quick/cheap fix for power. I have no idea when these guys can push before retarding.

About the "how much". Well, there's no strict answer to that. It depends on how your motor can handle it - all motors are different(cliche but true). Also, you don't have to pull timing strictly based on boost level. There are systems that pull timing based on boost. There are also systems that start to pull timing at the first sign of knock. There are also systems that pull timing based on boost level and knock feedback. The system you get is going to drastically effect "how much".
