I was running a nitrous works wet system with the 75hp jets in for about 1.5 bottles. Then I took it off cause I got a racing ticket. About 2 weeks later I was Driving normal, not hard and the diff literally explodes! the spider gears went everywhere! I figured the was because of the added stress of the nitrous. i was just wondering if anyone had the same problems.

No it wasn’t the nitrous, it happened because you were doing to many burn outs. My friends neon is on his 4th tranny. He had the same thing happen 4 times, its something about doing burn outs wiggles a pin loose. You can weld the pin in place or something, one of the neon guys were telling me but I can’t remember the details. It think you can get the info on WWW.NEONS.ORG on what to weld. I am not talking about welding gears together, if thats what you were thinking. :nono

Do you get bad wheel hop when you burn out? Do that often? Wheel hop will kill your transmission. Get some Energy Suspention motor mount inserts after you fix your transmission. You will get less wheel hop and your transmission will be happier.

Thanks guys... I never got wheel hop when I was doing burnouts... but I did get it to redline 2nd sitting still... lol I never thought thats why it blew! I've already got the new tranny in... but it should be okay as long as i don't do burnouts right? So I can put the nitrous back on...hmmm... I feel more racing tickets coming on...

Almost Completed: Turbocharging my dad's 94 Galant using 1g gs-t parts. It just needs a little more tuning. Running 9psi and we are running rich as hell.

Yeah, as long as you don’t do burn outs you should be alright.

the pin vibrated loose very common on 5 speeds not that big of deal had nothing to do with the nitrius just the wheel hop of burn outs and weak motor mounts get some energy suspension mounts or much better prothanes and that clear some of it up, the next thing is the 2.50$ brackets from the neon to holf that damn pin in place search neons.org to get the thread on the brackets like 5$ for both of them well worth it...

That's how i prevented it from happening.

When one wheel spins, the spider gear can overheat and lock onto the spider gear shaft. When that happens, the pin will start to rotate with the gear, which will cause it to move out of place. When that pin comes out, the diff flys apart, and usually goes through the case around the diff housing, which is exactly what ytou experienced. Don't do raging burnouts, or it'll happen again.

Will switching to quaffe or phantom grip will also fix this?

noo phantom grip wont fix the problem but some brackets from mopar that cost 5$ will i can grab the p/ns from neons.org so u guys have them easyier fix then welding and its undo able=)

im not sure about the quife dont have much knowledge how its pin is setsup...
