40559, is n2o really work with a push of a button?? (n2o newbie) Posted by elude, Jan-18-03 06:51 PM
well this question probably will get me banned from 2gnt forum.. haha.. but anyhow.. after watching f&f and trying to figure it out with the posts from the n2o gurus, really how does it work... i see that the kits come with kind of an on/off switch?? is there really a button that you push to take off?? i really am thinking of squeezing but i need all the 411.. is there like a n2o tutorial?? haha.. please dont attack me.. also, i read that since i have a 99 i need a wet kit, and that NOS offers it? i was looking at the nos/holley website and it says that it only offers a dry kit for the 2gnts? does any one have the item number? well, thanks and sorry..

ok, yes, you can use a button like f&f to make your nitrous go off. yes you can do it, but today its more advanced. most n2o systmes work off of a WOT (wide open throttle) switch to hit the gas. you still have your arming switch, but there is no little button to hit. the reason for this is you should only really be spraying at WOT so therefore, it automatically (sorta) hits the gas for you. to better understand how the switch works you need to look at your throttle body. when you have your gas mashed all the way, it pulls that cable as tight as it will go. your throttle plate will be all the way horizontal. youll notice a little "hammer" of sorts which is outside the throttle body which rests on a lil peg at idle. now, when that lil "hammer" is all the way back, the car is at WOT. how the switch works is it actually has a lil peice of metal that sticks up from the switch box. when you go WOT, that lil "hammer" goes horizontal and pushes down that peice of metal and makes contact with the switch...activates your solanoids and releases n2o. your correct, you need a wet kit. i believe its a NOS brand 5208. now...the 5208 is for the TURBO eclipse...but its used on 96-99 cars as well. they list the non turbo eclipse as some other model # but unless your a 95 you cant use it. to tell it to your quick, us 96+'s will lean out and blow our engine. so use the 5208 WET kit. the other is dry and we have to use a wet. wet means the fuel and nitrous is both shot into the intake pipe. before you go nitro, you need to do a compression test and make sure your car is in good condition. now, with that WOT switch, they suggest you only run it in 2, 3, and 4 gear. 1 is a waste cuz youll be burnin rubber all day, and 5, i have heard some people getting tranny probs with spraying in that gear. umm, thats really all i can think of....hehe, and i dont even own a nitrous kit, but if you stck around here you get alot of other info. feel free to check my info against any knowladgable person here on the board...theyll tell you the same thing.
