alright all. i am getting little stuff knocked out slowly. cant wait till its on and boostn 18psi i have a 97 and i have heard that we have to mount the sfmu in the rear, but on 96 they can tap into the service port.(is that true or am i on the wrong page) my question is i have a 96 fuel rail, can i swap them out and have to fmu right there under the hood? what all if any do i need to do to accomplish that? if i am off the subject and the service port is used for somethn else let me know because i have seen alot of us trying to get the earlier fuel rail. thanks ben

You can, and *should* mount the SFMU in the engine bay. The only difference in the 96 model year, is that some of them have the fuel filter, and stock FPR up front in the engine bay, as where the 97+ cars have it in the back of the car, by the gas tank. You will have to check to see where your fuel filter is located, to make sure what fuel system you have, as there were a few people with 96's that had the 97+ fuel setup for some reason. If your filter is in the back of the car, by the right rear wheel, then you have the 97+ fuel system setup. With this setup, when you mount the SFMU in the engine bay, you need to run a addition fuel return line going back to the tank. If your fuel filter is on the firewall, behind the intake manifold, right next to the washer resovior, then you already have the return fuel line on the car. This setup is the easiest to do since all your lines are already in the engine bay. You can also tell what fuel system you have by looking at your fuel rail. If you see a round metalish looking part on the end of the rail, with a vacuum line going into it, then you have the fuel system with the stock fuel return line already on the car. Hope this makes sense. IMO, it would not be a good idea to mount the SFMU in the rear of the car. If you indeed have the FPR and fuel filter in the engine bay, then it would be more work to mount it in the back anyway..

Yes, you do take out the stock FPR if you have it by the rear tire there. The HRC kit will have all the fittings and line to do this. If you are not getting a HRC kit, then i can go into more detail on the fuel system setup.
