i think you have to modify your bumper support in order to install it. you have the one for the gsx right cause i'm pretty sure there is a difference between the 420a and the 4g63 one.

I thought the 4g fmic was the same as the 420a except turned around. well, for the 420a the fmic is mounted using long threaded rods that go through some spacers that mount in the fog light mounting holes. only the bumper cover needs to be removed, but i would recommend you remove the whole bumper cover and bumper structure, you are going to have to cut a chunk out of the bumper structure and bumper cover to clear the intercooler. there should be like a 3 inch space betwen the AC condenser and the intercooler. i have no idea how the piping goes on the 4g, so i cannot help you there, all in all the hardest part is cutting the bumper structure because it is fiberglass, you should cut more on the top to clear the intercooler, i have like a 2 inch gap between the bumper structure and the intercooler, this allows air to go over the intercooler and through the radiator. lates James

Yeah, you'll have to cut a section out of the 5mph bumper, or better yet just remove it, like that things gonna do any good anyways, well, unless your doing 5mph, :-)

Yeah, I just took all that shit out as well and just trimmed the bumper.......was suprisingly easy. Hardest part was getting the damn bumper off :o

I just did this on a Chrysler Sebring this weekend... I like he way stars FMIC runs and mounts alot beter!!!!
Okay I didn't really read all of it till I got to James... But he is right about all that.. For the triming of the 5MPH bumper we took basically the entire bottom of the bumper off. And also the pipe goes thru the bracket so you have to take off some of that side too... Sorry we didn't have pics... But the pic that comes in the HRC FMIC packet is pretty accurate... It was an all day jobber for that POS!!!

Someone said it was almost impossible to cut the 5mph bumper. Like you need to use a tourch? I have not tried yet, but does anyone have any suggestions? Also, what bolts did you use to bolt the FMIC up to the frame? I know you bolt it up to the fog light location, but what bolts did you use? Thanks a lot!!!!!!

We had to hack up my friend's bumper to get her big Greddy FMIC to fit on her Talon TSi. We just used a Sawzall.

I just put a simple cutting wheel on a drill to cut the bumper reinforcement on my GS back in the day. Easy. And please, DO keep your bumper reinforcement. It may be a "5mph bumper", but it will save your FMIC in an accident. I saved myself a lot of money the other month when I got in a 5mph accident. If I did not leave it in there I would have no intercooler.
That support brace that is in the way needs to be removed. Don't worry, it's not that important.
It is by far the easiest intercooler to install ever. (In my experience)

My kit was shop installed and they weren't going to shave anything so they took the 5mph bumper off. Yeah for the safety reason and $$$ damage in an accident, I wish I had it. But some say it's a 20lb weight redux, so that's good. And yeah my bumper required alot of shaving. But I have never seen in both HRC and Star two bumpers the same; different stages of bumper shaved. Some still look like stock and some gutted alot. :wary As for the bolts, they came with the kit. You can always call HRC and ask about the size or order from them.

the mounting screws and spacers should have come with your fmic kit, the bumper can be cut with a hack saw or i used a makita reciprocating saw (my favorite tool in the whole world) it is fiberglass so it will eat blades. It took like maybe 3 hours for me to install the fmic.

James' recipro saw 0wns me. I love that thing, it cuts thru 1/2" plate steel for a safe!
Oh, and Jeff, if you get that 420a- you're the only one I know who's been to the Darkside and come back to the Jedi.
