40169, oil oil everywhere

well as many of you here I just got a catch can with my turbo set up, and thought that the pcv valve would hold 6-8psi. well... NO!
it busted and oil started to go into the intake manifold without me knowing it.. then all of a sudden my fuel pressure would not rise under boost. decided to check on the vacuum line to the FMU and sure enough a steady stream of oil came out of it...
still have to take the intake mani appart and clean out all vacuum hoses, intercooler, FMU, BOV, Boost controler, and everyting else that is hooked up to a vacuum line. :(

This is going to suck.. lesson learned I guess.

Sorta on the subject and off the subject....would a catch can be functional for a NA car?????

Performance: Stuff that makes my car run better or go faster

Looks: Stock because looks doesnt make my car go faster or run better

Weight Reduction: CF Hood, No A/C or Powersteering Accessories, No rear interior

you could put one on, but since as NA your valve cover will not see any pressure, you will not be spitting out oil, so it would not be of real use. you could just put a little filter on the breather.

Oh i alreeady have a valve cover breather.....hehehee I got alot of shit for my valve cover breather back in July or so....I got into with bucknutty and he said he was going to one up me and run like 7 of them....it was funny shit...great crap talkin....enjoyed myself....but I am getting some oil on top of the valve cover itself because of it....so I was thinking that it might be a good idea...even though its not alot

Um... do a compression check bro.

Yes like Dan said do a compression check.
if your pcv stops working then you introduce pressure into your head which would push oil down back into the pan. when piston ring lands break you introduce boost pressure and combustion pressure into the crankcase which does not allow the oil to drain back into the pan from the head. so if you got oil in your manifold and fmu and out your breather into your catch can, you may have very possibly cracked a piston.

hehe yeah I thought of that when I realized my pcv was bad.. did the compression test and numbers were great... 200,210,210,210. the car runs fine.. just have to clean all the freaking oil that came out the pcv and got into everything that is conected to the intake mani.

Guys, good idea to either upgrade your pcv to a brake check valve, or re-route it to your catch can or somewhere it will not see boost, cus cleaning this mess is goign to take some time..
