40116, Custom turbo setup using t25 ???? Posted by Dark Ringleader, Mar-02-03 09:05 AM
This isn't a question about parts really as I've got that all worked out. What I was wondering was boost. How much can I run using that turbo on stock internals/fuel without an intercooler. How much boost can I run with a Walbro255 and stock turbo injectors. How much can I run with an intercooler and fuel. What will I need to max out the turbo, and what PSI can I run at those listed intervals, also what kind of times/hp can I be lookin at for each of those?

You're questions don't have static answers. Each setup is different and will yield different results. I'll try to give my opinion to some of your questions though...
>How much can I >run using that turbo on stock internals/fuel without an >intercooler.
I wouldn't boost without any fuel mods.
>How much boost can I run with a Walbro255 and >stock turbo injectors.
Stage 1... about 6 psi IMO... but you'll need an rising-rate FPR too.
>How much can I run with an intercooler >and fuel.
Stage 2... about 8-9 psi IMO.
>What will I need to max out the turbo
That turbo will max out at stage 2 IMO... it's a small turbocharger by comparison to what works well with the 420a.
>can I run at those listed intervals, also what kind of >times/hp can I be lookin at for each of those?
I don't know. My guess would be ~220HP and high 14 sec. That's just a guess... RxR_Eclipse should be able to help you out more.
I'd like to say that the Mitsubishi T25 isn't a great turbo to use. It's okay, but a Mitsubishi 14B is better and a Garrett T3 or Mitsubishi 16G is great. Make sure you get a fuel pump, FPR, and intercooler for your initial setup. Ofcoarse custom setups are difficult and time consuming. Hahn and Star make great pre-fabbed kits.

Yea I know what your saying about Hahn and Star, I've looked into both kits, the main thing here is saving money, and doing something not many do. I'm using the t25 because I'm getting a ported and rebuilt one from a friend for $65. It only has ~3k miles on it since the rebuild and about 30k total miles on the turbo (it was rebuilt after it was retrieved from a DSM who upgraded to a 16g) I understand the turbo is small but the car is a work in progress and I want to do as much work on it custom and try not to buy a lot of prebuilt predone stuff that a lot of people have/do. Gotta be different ya know :D plus once I max out that turbo I'll upgrade to bigger and better things, the t25 is temporary, so I'll have the turbo and all the piping and engine work done for when I want to get a bigger one, it will also give me time to focus on some of the other work that needs to be done to the car (paint job, redo the interior etc.) Someone said though I should be able to run 8psi on that turbo with fuel mods and maybe a side mount and with a front mount run like 12psi? I think the max listed on the turbo was 14 but I'm not sure. Thanks for the input though :thumbsup

what dougie2 said was right. 8psi with a side mount or front mount. after 8 psi which will give you around 255hp, then internals will go. nothing above 8psi unless you wanna rebuild your engine. the t-25 is a good street setup because of the power you will have off the line. Look more into what is in the star and hahn kits before you go buying things. you will definetely need the fpr to avoid detonation. use the search button and look for complete turbo kits. this is someting you will not want to get into unless you have someone with experience setting up the turbo. this is all imo and i'm just trying to help you out before something bad happens. good luck on it, and read up some more before you start into it. -Scott

You can rup up to 5psi without fuel upgrade. When I had my kit isntall, I didn't realize the fuse to the inline pump was blown and I was pushing 5psi for about a month. held up fine, but no more than 5 psi.

Yea I know all about the hahn and star kits believe me. Like I said I'm going custom because this is going to be a street setup and that way I'll have complete control over what I want and the individual parts. This is also something I can work on over the course of a couple months and put out the money when I have it not shell out 2500+ for a kit all at once when I can build a good one myself for much cheaper. I'm just looking for info on a setup using the t25 I'm talking about and if anyone has experience thats all.

Dont the 4G63 guys boost to like 17-18 psi with the t25? If youre going to run really low boost (im planning to run 6) you might not even need an intercooler until you go up to higher boost. Youre also going to need the FCD ("missing link") to hack your MAP Sensor.

the 1g guys run that much with the 14b

yea the 1g guys have a 14 or 13b turbo and run 17psi but the 2g 4g63 guys have a t25 and its only good to like 14psi..
FCD and hacking the map sensor would be a black box wire in mod..
there is an exception and thats the midding link to stray away from hacking the wires up..
just to clear things up..
most people dont use an intercooler at 5-6psi, although it is a good idea..
