400, Questions about turbo install (WYATT,JASON ESi-T)... Posted by DarkOne, Dec-22-00 04:05 PM
Yeah, i'm having problems. Go figure.
First: No gaskets? What's up with that ?
Second: Where the heck is my fuel return line ? Jason, you have a 95, where is the thing? The fuel pressure reg. is attached to the end of the fuel rail and has a vacuum line routed to it, but the only line going in to my fuel rail is on the opposite (drivers) side.
Third: My downpipe. Once bolted up, the alternator blocks the grommet for the o2 sensor. Why ?
Fourth: Someone said that the FMU -MUST- be perfectly level or it won't work properly. Bullshit or not ?
Fifth: Jack Daniels. I'm cold, tired, hungry and sore. I'mma go get drunk and finish it tomorrow.
Thanx for the help...
-DarkOne I'm so bad, i should be in detention.

LAST EDITED ON 22-Dec-00 AT 11:07 PM (PST)I'll help where I can man, but I have a 98. "Jason 95 GS" has a 95'.
>First: No gaskets? What's >up with that ?
Easily fixed man by getting what you need at the local autoparts store. I think they already have pre-cut ones or ones you can cut out yourself. HRC provided me with any gasket I needed which I think was the turbo to DP one. Didn't need any others.
> >Second: Where the heck is my >fuel return line ?
I'm guessing from this diagram from Chiltons that the fuel return line IS closer to where the driver's side is. I'm not sure, but I see the FPR on the passenger side and then the fuel return hose on the driver's side. You 95 guys have me all confused after looking at this now. ;-)
Notice: (3) is the fuel return connections and (13) is the fuel ressure regulator. They're at opposite ends of the fuel rail. Weird stuff man. I guess what I'd do is just put the FMU right before the Fuel return line at that connection by (3).
>The fuel pressure reg. is >attached to the end of >the fuel rail and has >a vacuum line routed to >it, but the only line >going in to my fuel >rail is on the opposite >(drivers) side.
It looks like it from this piture... eh? I just kept thinking before, though, that the location of the FPR on a 95' had to be one in the same the fuel return line. Guess not...
> >Fourth: Someone said that the FMU >-MUST- be perfectly level or >it won't work properly. Bullshit >or not ?
This sounds like pure bullshit to me. What the hell? You have some sort of water-operated FMU that operates at level conditions only? ;-) heheh sounds weird to me. The HRC instructions almost demand that your FPR is at a slant. No, this makes no sense to me.

This is the best idea yet. Take plenty of breaks while doing this and don't get frustrated or bogged down. Each step is a challenge, but you'll get it done. My hands were all cut up for a week after this job. Just take it easy,... it'll come.

Nope, no gaskets. I've never had a leak anywhere except at where the downpipe connects to the cat. Thats aboutthe only gasket you should replace. Being a 95, you might want to think about the exhaust manifold. Usually you can re-use them but if its that old you might want to replace it. FMU has to be straight? I've never heard that before. Hell, mine is totally sideways in the back of my car :) Good luck. Sorry I haven't replied to your guys e-mails. I'm away from my computer and its hard to reply to all of them.
