Hey.... quick question. I have a Eclipse GS (non-turbo) 1995 and I want to add a big 16G turbo or a small 16G turbo...and the guy who is selling it to me said that a 1G turbo stock exhaust manifold will fit PERFECTLY on my 420A 1995 Eclipse GS engine and good for the 16G turbo also. Is that true. Coz I will buy it... and just want to make sure so I won't waste the money. Thanks
Also... if I get the big 16G turbo, and I run at 8PSI - 10PSI only, will the lag be ALOT??? compare to the small 16G? coz I see a great deal online..and it's for a big 16G...and if I buy a small 16G, I have to pay alot more...so if a big 16G is good for me...then I will just get the big 16G.... so.... which one I should get!???

It would fit the 16g turbo, but the 1g turbo manifold WILL NOT FIT YOUR 420a AT ALL, much less perfectly.
The rest is pretty much irrelevant.
Just save up and get either a HRC or STAR kit. The custom setup is way too much of a pain in the ass, and any cost savings you may take advantage of, would be minimal for what you can get from a kit. (better quality turbo, manifold, etc.)

I disagree with that one ^^^. Give me the $3000 that you will pay for a hahn kit, and I will put together something that would be way better, and would have no parts that needed replaced. Why buy a kit and upgrade the whole fuel system? I don't think it is worth it, unless you don't really know what you are doing, or have the money just laying around. I'm putting together a custom kit, and I am willing to bet that for half the cost, it will be just as good, if not better. I know I will have some problems along the way, and some trouble installing some things with no technical support or anything. But that is the fun of owning a car. And what better way to know what you are putting on your car, than putting the kit together yourself. But if I had the money, I would probably go with a kit too. Just my $0.02!!

I disagree with that. First off neither kit cost $3000. Both kits are well done but that doesn't mean they don't have flaws (ie. people's disagreement with certain parts) of their own. The HRC kit is more expensive than the same stage star kit. But the thing everyone forgets is that there is an HRC company that has a wonderful HRC support line with very nice and knowledgeable HRC people. Star doesn't.
Now for the price of a star stage 2 you CANNOT put one together for less than the cost of the kit AND still have NEW COMPARABLE parts. I emphasize the word NEW because I know people have put together kits for far less but it's always using a used turbo or an IC they got off of ebay or whatnot. Remember kits comes with all NEW parts and ALL parts (most of the time ... star horrors).
Anyways, I agree with Jason. Save up and get an HRC stage 1. Comes with all that you need. Comes with a S16G which is better than both 16g and Big 16g and is brand new. Plus you don't really want a used turbo. New is better unless you're getting it rebuilt after you get it.

Now, to price a custom kit versus a $2200 Stage 1 HRC kit:
Comparable Turbo (most likely without internal WG): $750 Wastegate: $100 Exhaust Manifold: $250 from Alain Downpipe: $125 (for a very basic P.O.S.) Adjustable Fuel Pressure regulator: $150 Fuel Cut Prevention Device: $60 Intercooler Piping with BOV Flange: $70 BOV: $50 Couplings: $25 High Pressure Inline Fuel Pump: $120(est.) High Pressure fuel lines: $20 Aluminum Hard line for fuel return: $20 Oil Feed Line, Tee for off of block, bung for oil drain, & fittings: $80 Compression fittings off fuel rail, other various fuel line fittings: $50 Hose Clamps (you probably need like 20 for this job in various mysterious sizes): $20
Total: $1890
Okay, this rough listing doesn't include shipping, the time it will take to gather all of these hard to find items, and everything else that would make this scavenger hunt a MAJOR PITA, but you get the idea.
True, it appears you may have saved a few hundred dollars(maybe even less or nothing with the STAR kit), and also have been able to very specially select first rate "quality" pieces that you desire for your system. But take into account the amount of research and headaches this entails. Further realize that you're probably STILL going to be missing items or small specialized fittings that you may have to wait for after you realized you didn't buy before you undertook the install. Also realize, most of these things WILL not have any sort of customer support, warranty protection, or directions that can very precisely lead your way through the install.
If this is the first time you've done such a turbo install, forget about it. This is going to be a major headache with more than likely missing parts and big questions without clear answers.
Now, I don't have a doubt that many experienced people here on the board could put together such a kit. However, a first time installer is going to be wishing he didn't go this route after compiling a pile of parts, a bank account $1500 short and still big question marks and uncertainties in his mind.
I know I could probably put together such a kit, without having to get all the second fiddle FPR's and FCD's I've since done away with in my first go around. However, that would both increase the final total as listed above, and I'm assuming I know what I know now before I first installed my turbo, which is the furthest thing from the truth. In fact, when I first took on the turbo install, what seems like forever ago, I knew VERY little, and completing such an install seemed like "Mission Impossible."
To me, it's not the big things like a turbo and manifold, or whatever obvious items that you can acquire on your own, it's all the little things. It's the fittings, the instructions, the rigth amount of fuel line and couplings, and the fact that in Oswego, Illinois, there's going to be a man on the phone who's going to listen to my install problems. Those intangibles, seem somewhat insignificant given how much money this all costs, but trust me, when I say, it's those intangibles that make undertaking such a task as a first-time turbo install so much more achievable and doable. Because in the end, you're all alone in your garage with a stack of unfamiliar parts with the hope you can get them to fit together and work.
Have you ever regretted paying just a little less for a somewhat crappier item, and then have had to go back later and paid the higher amount for the nicer item you should have bought the first time? In my mind, this situation exemplifies that example.
