39728, Well...the car is up and running.
Posted by 420aturbo, Feb-23-03 04:09 PM
I got the car running tonight with the turbo kit on. I am very excited about farther experimenting with the car and its capabilities.

Right now I am running a NER stage 1F kit with a T3/T04 s-trim ball bearing. It runs strong....like a totally different car. The only mods are the turbo kit and a AFX UDP. Stock cams, stock exhaust, 4-5 psi I'm assuming as I don't have my boost gauge set up yet.

Things on the to do list are:
*fix MASSIVE exhaust leak from downpipe to cat
*fix MASSIVE oil leak...there is one coming from what looks like the drive side of the car right around where the oil line feed starts.
*there is also another oil leak by the drain line
*remove Venom 270cc injectors and send to RyaN95i4
*find out why it stalls and farts and misses at anything part throttle or below 3500 rpm.

So, for the next week or so I have my work cut out for me. I will be visiting the board more frequent. I need to thank:

*Craig from Brandon (sorry I don't know your screen name but you replied to my ad here on 2gnt for turbo install help)
*Ryan95i4
*CVedEclipse
...and to all you guys that couldn't make it here....well...I'm sure you'll have another chance to get here again.

Stalling and farting is more likely to be a fuel problem.

My recommended next upgrade would be the exhaust system, get a bigger exhaust AND a testpipe. I guarantee you it'll be a night and day difference. Good luck finding that leak on the DP to cat. I've heard that the only way to cure that is to have that welded. I'm not sure if the NER kit comes with a full DP much like the Star was, but the HRC one required for you to cut half your stock DP so you can slip there own DP in there, all held together by a POS exhaust clamp.

Can't wait to see how the NER kit performs. I've ridden Craig's car untuned at 12-14 psi and that thing is a beast with 4 people, well 5 cuz I count as 2 :P in it!!! Sorry I couldn't make it man, next thing for you to do is to datalogg your car, much like what me and Kyle did to Craig's car. If needs be, we can arrange a weekend. Enjoy your newfound power man, and good luck!!!!

Update....Check out war stories.

I still have bugs to work out but he car pull NICE under boost. I have quite a bit blow by under boost, running really rich with my fuel set up, and MAP sensor is garbage.

The NER kit is really nice. The wastegae sounds men when open. It came with a full 3" downpipe which is a snug fit under the car. It has a small section of pipe that a flange is welded to. That just slips over the DP and bolts t the stock cat. All I needed to do to it was elongated the hloea little and everything is fine.

I installed my gauges tonight. I have a GReddy boost and EGT gauge. Under hard driving th EGTs stay around 7. Its measured in Celcius. I will keep you updated

700*C is ~1300*F, where is your egt probe at, downpipe or exhuast manifold?

The EGT is tapped into runner #4 on the manifold.

Sorry to miss out on all of the fun! When did you first get it running? Knowing very little about the NER kit, what IS your fuel system? And is your fuel pressure correct at idle as well as under boost? The blow-by has me concerned... I'm there if you need help this weekend-you've got my number(Craig in Brandon).Have fun, but not too much-until you are better tuned- a rebuild can be expensive!

Hey Guys, I got the software for the palm again and it's the new version so I can datalog better than it was before. It's still not as good as when I use Kris's laptop except the battery doesn't die in 10 minutes.
