39263, FPR from HRC. not cartech

Hey everyone. I just saw a photo of the cartech fpr, it looks like i have the newer fpr hahn is sending out. I got a suppliment instruction sheet, it describes it as a 'hahn billet fuel pressure regulator'. Everyone keeps saying replace your cartech fpr with a vortech. But i dont know what brand this one is, or if its any good. I seems to keep the presure right, and i have not had to adjust it since i installed it. Am i ok with this thing? Im thinking about going to the 8 injector setup, so i would take it out anyways. Im just really really worried about keeping my engine healthy. }(

The fuel pressure regulator is still from Cartech. It is Cartech's fourth design change/upgrade to their original fuel pressure regulator. Here is a link to the HRC (Cartech) fuel pressure regulator:

http://www.cartech.net/fmu2020.htm

I would seriously consider replacing the cartech with the Vortech SFMU regardless of what revisions/improvements have been made. Based on what I've read on this board, I would not trust the life of my motor on this unit. I still have my Cartech Billet Unit in the box from HRC along with their FCD; both have never been installed from the start.

Hope this helps,
Kurt

also, notice how in the instructions hrc tries to justify how the cartech fuel pressure fluctuates!!! fuel pressure fluctuations is not a great thing to have in a turboed car

The HRC/Cartech billet FPR is great!

... for shotput practice:

... No no, really it's great... for ME TO POOP ON!!!!!!!!

oh.. and the internals of the new billet fpr are exactly the same as the old cast fpr. The new one holds "better" but still not "good". General rule of thumb- If you have to stop your friends from smashing it with a sledgehammer, or throwing it in a storm drain, and you can't get half of what you paid HRC for it on eBay, it's probably not such a great part.

heheh. thanks guys! I'm gonna ditch the bitch! I got the hrc stage 2 and i have added the missing link to it also. Im gonna get the vortech fpr now also. From the start Im only doing 6 lbs or boost. Once i get my exaust on im gonna turn it up to 8 psi. Is this safe!? I dunno why the thing is only doing 6, they said it was tuned to 8. Mabye an exaust flow issue. rock out with your cock out! -etx
