ok so hrc says 275 is safe operating range for us... but i want more than that :). not too much more.. i just want to hit the magical 300. is the 275 limit on stock internals simply because of boost pressure.. allowing me to use other methods of engine modification (pulleys, etc) to get closer to the 300 mark safely? thanks

The magical number is about 280. I know that more pressure is do-able with the same amount of fuel but your engine may only last a year or so. I think with the correct amount of fuel you can do 14psi but you're on your own

When pushing the limit on the stock bottom end you have to keep in mind how much power the stock RODS can handle.
The rods should easily handle 300hp.. especially since HRC was capable of pushing a max of 16psi on them. (snapped @ 16psi)

Now the question to ask is: "How long will they hold up" ??
Right now im running 8psi, but im trying to tune my car good enough to have the same output as it would have with 10-12psi..

Some things will actually free up existing lost power, like udp's, lighter wheels, etc which will show as more power safely since it is only affecting the to the wheels power and not the actual flywheel power. Essentially improving your motors efficiency. And as far as breaking that magical mark, the numbers used are more of a guidline to me. No two motors are exactly alike, but equivalent. Some are stronger/weaker than others. The best way is to do it slowly. Get a thicker headgasket, cams, cam gears, udp, gauges, tune it. See what your car can do but keep things like fuel, temps, etc in check. Oh, that magical 300hp you speak of is speculative anyway. It is all in how you do the math. I would concetrate on to the wheels numbers.

Well Dude, With a HRC Stage II with the A'PEXi FMIC, I *calcluated* that I was getting about 312hp at the flywheel.
Oh yeah and thats at 10psi boost.

How did I do it? Well I heard that your mph at the end of a 1/4 mile is a good indication. So I took the average mph of my best 1/4 mile runs and then stuck it into the HP Calculator.

That gave me my HP at the wheels, but being in the US, and since EVERYONE quotes bigger numbers to look better, I decided to find the HP at the flywheel.

So next step? Well I know that a STOCK 2GNA rated at 140hp puts 114.8hp to the wheels when dynoed. That means on a STOCK drivetrain (which is excatly what I had) we have an 18% Drivetrain loss (which is quite big, I might add)...

So the HorsePower calculator spits out 265hp at the Wheels!!!!
Cool Multiply that by 1.18 and tada: 312.7hp!!!!!

My mph was 105.11 and my Car Weight with me inside I considered to be 2923lbs. My car is curb-weight rated at 2723lbs WITH a spare tire and half a tank of gas. Well I had no spare tire in the car (or a jack) and I estimated 200lbs for my weight and any "extra" stuff... My car was freaking clean though fron the inside, all I had was my fire extinguisher.

The cool thing is though, the BIGGER weight you use in the calculator, the MORE Horsepower it says you make!!! So I believe that my 312hp to be quite reasonable all things considered...
