in basic terms, whats involved with removing the stock internal wastegate of a t25 and putting in/on an external one. gimme BASIC steps, just learing at this point...

Hey it will be a waist of money for a t25 since its so small. But basically all you need to do is weld shut your flapper and take out the wastegate actuator. Then just weld the external waistgate on to the manifold, and install the external and run the vac lines and do the dump tupe to atmosphere, that sounds awsome hahahahaah....

hope this helps. But really it will be waist of money since t25 is extremely small, I see people going to external when its bigger than a 20g or garrete turbo like t3/t4 are good for external. But its up to you .

Weld her shut and just bolt on the external wastegate. The T25 will spool soooooo fast. Don't know if your considering it or not, but the TTI racing headgasket is a good precaution for that setup.

i know there are a few people on the board using a T Too Small with a custom setup, but i've never seen anyone use a t28.... i hear they spool almost as well as a T Too Small and can hold a decent amount of boost. when you custom guys were looking into piecing together a kit, why did you go with the t25 and not the t28?

cuz they're easier to find and usually cheaper ;)

well t28 are pretty good they hold more boost than a t25 and flow lot of more cfm. It has been said that a t28 flows as much as a 16g turbo but a lot faster spool up.

Hey what you can do if you want you can send that t25 for rebuild to a t28. I seen people doing 280 to the wheels with that setup t28 but on a 4g63 but since you are not going to boost much then stick with t25 for now but after wards you will have to rebuild and get abigger turbo once that is done. I guess for people who just want to feel turbo and not going to boost more than 8psi then stick with a small turbo but if you planning to go more than 8psi defenetly a large turbo. Something bigger than a 14B will be nice but that is my opinion.

okay, but what do i do about an internal WG thats factory set to 11psi, but becuase of running stock internals for now,i dont want to run any more than 5-7psi. do i need to do the mod on the internal WG, or can i do an external WG anyway (even if its a t2small(i like that)) so that i have it when i do upgrade and to get me past the higher factory psi?

Heres a tag on question that may negate this whole post: if i use an MBC, will that allow me to control/set my boost to the lower setting regardless of the factory setting and just not allow me to raise it past factory psi? or will using an MBC set to 5-7psi not even let my internal WG see the higher boost that its set for?

11lbs on a t25 is going to be different that 11psi on a bigger turbo. you are putting more power out on the bigger turbo set up. with a custom setup w t25 you should be fine with just the internal wastegate and intercooler probably better off w a fmic

Tim brother... you will have to mod the wastegate actuator arm only. There is realy nothing you can do to the wastegate itself. It's the actuator that needs some mods done to it. Look at this pic. You can see where I made the arm longer....which makes it see less boost. :)
You will also have to rotate the center section like mine to make the oil dump tube point down. Your setup will look similar to mine when you get done.
