ive been seeing a lot of different numbers for the arp head studs. The main site says 71 ft-lbs, ive read 75ft-lbs elesewhere, ive also read to go to 80ft-lbs if you plan on making some decent power, and had a great chat last night with Armond and he mentioned he torques his down to 95ft-lbs.
I would say screw it, and go real tight, but ive also read that going to tight will crush the mls gasket
opinions, thoughts?
-- ive done a search and thats part of how i ended up with different numbers ;)

For an average turbo setup, 71-80 is fine. I torqued mine to 80 because that's my torque wrench limit. Seriously boosted applications (25+ psi) should have them torqued to 91-95 ft lbs.

Mine are at 90ft/lbs.
it's a five layer steel gasket. It won't crush much anyway.

Ok, so if it matters, i want to be running ~18-20psi by summer, so looks like 90ft/lbs is the way to go.

Wow, 95 ft-lbs huh... I torqued mine down to 76 ft-lbs this past weekend and I would imagine that would be plenty for some high boost. It better be anyway, because if I wind up having to take this stupid engine apart again soon, im gonna be maaaaad lol.

So it is ok to torque them more after a while? Like if mine have been at 65 for a while can I make them 90 w/ out hurting anything?

I torque mine to ARP standards. I have never had to up the torque on it for whatever reason and although i dont push 20lbs of boost, i doubt you want to torque it beyond the arp spec as you may go beyond what the vendor designed that stud for.

I believe 75lbs...whatever Eric Ristine has written up on the 2gnt.com parts listing webpage. sorry cant remember from the top of my head.
Also when you order your arp studs, in the package there are instructions with the torque specs as well.

ARP recommends 71 ft lbs. They are good to at least 100.
