38445, intercooler piping question from a noob...
Posted by tim97rs, Feb-02-03 07:23 AM
ive got the t-25 (dont say it...) and a side mount intercooler. would it matter if i used 2.5in tubing vs. 2in tubing (or vice versa) for the intercooler piping even though the connections on the turbo and intercooler are smaller than either one of the tubings? (using appropriate downsizing couplers of course...)
thanks

I don't think it would matter that much. I'm running a T25 with 2in IC piping boost great. I would run a least 2.5 in on the downpipe on back. The boost will be a lot better. You can get all of the goodies at turbo-performance com. Just got done building my kit about a month ago. Good Luck!:D

From the turbo to the IC inlet, i would suggest no larger than 2.25", and from the IC to the TB, no more than 2.5". If you use too large of IC piping, you may loose some air velocity through all of it(more boost pressure loss). I believe the 1g side mount IC i have, the inlet and outlets are like just about 1.75" or so in diameter. I use 2.25" IC piping all around.
