38441, MSD DIS-2 users I need some info... Posted by Kirby, Feb-01-03 09:26 PM
Which model are you guy's running? Are you running the programable model to retard by boost, or just the regular dis-2 that still allows you to pull timing, and do the rev limits? Is anyone even using the programable model? I think I'm going 8 injector setup and MSD DIS-2, but I need to know which one to buy... How are you guy's running studder boxes with these? Is the stutter box an add on unit?

The BTM is an add on for all MSD DIS 2 models AFAIK.

Any DIS2 can stutterbox if you hook up the stutterbox.

you just hook up the wire to a momentary pushbutton and put it somewhere close to you, heres a pic of mine.

I was wondering about this one http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=31702 VS this one http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=26727 the first one is programable through a laptop more info here http://www.msdignition.com/n2000j.htm I don't think anyone is using this programable MSD ignition, are they? If this is not the one that everyone uses then I will go with the high output DIS-2. I just didn't know wich one most of us use.

well since you are going with the 8 injector setup, i assume you will use a labtop to tune that. so if you got the cash get the dis-2 programable kind since you will need a labtop to tune the ignition system. the normal dis2 works great, retard by rpm. but the programble kind is super great you can do that, and also by boost pressure, certain rpm etc. jamesman has this programable unit. it cost a bit more but its worth it if you ask me. dont forget you need your tach adapter(s) also. right now if i can start over i would do the e-manage only. good luck Michael 99gs HRC Stage 2 @12psi :D Stage 3 process begins gathering parts for rebuild

At what boost pressure shoule we worry about retarding ignition timing?

hey I run the dis2. I found that it is not really functional because it doesnt sense boost and retard.I have found out that the car doesnt take off out of the hole all that great. Yet with the box on it feels like it pulls harder on the top end. I have actually decided to keep mine because msd has come out with a new rpm window switch. I will use this for my nos. It opens at ? rpm and closes at ? rpm. Its like 50 bucks. But I'm hoping it will give me ass off the line and use the top end i talked about earlier. late mike
