What exactly DOES come with the Stage 2 upgrade from HRC? I see a lot of people say they put in a SMIC for cheap. Are they just jacking the price because they throw in a SMIC?
HRC-S1 $2,295.00 What is between these prices to make it jump so much? HRC-S2 $3,049.00
Now..... how do I get the same results of the S2 upgrade but not at a premium price?

I think the IC is the only differance from 1 and 2. You would just need to find an intercooler and the piping for it. Then adjust your turbo up. Is the Stage 2 kit with the side mount IC about $3000? How much is it for the frount mount upgrade? i would get the fmic if i were you. cheers!

If your gonna do I would go with the FMIC. The difference between getting the HRC SMIC and one from a $g63 is that the HRC one is beefier. Otherwise all you need is the piping.....

The FMIC is $400 dollars more. I asked Brad from HRC about whether the upgrade was worth the money. In less words, he said it wasn't worth it unless you are going above stage 2, and he said the response will be better with a SMIC rather than the FMIC.
But to continue this thread.. where can you get the right piping and the IC for cheap?

Depending on where you live, you can have a local shop bend you the needed piping. If you are looking for a cheaper front mount you can buy new Spearco units at www.turbo-performance.com or look on DSMtrader.com for a Starion/Conquest FMIC. Don't forget welding the blow off valve to the new pipes. Now would be a good time to upgrade to a GReddy or HKS unit. PM me for pricing.

What about this one from RRE? I think the Griffen core with the 2 endtanks and them welding it together was like $530. Would this be a good IC, but turned around the other way?

If you want to buy a SMIC, talk to Aaron Miller... He is selling a SMIC, after that get the Pipes fabbed at a local muffler shop, or do the connect the elbow thing we see so much of.
As for the front mount you have pictured Dirty, there isn't a bracket pictured on there, so all you need to do is weld an L shaped piece of metal on the top so that the openings of the IC are facing the driverside of the car, and they you can basically use the star piping... The L shaped bracket is so you can fasten the ic to the center radiator suport beam in front of the car. When you take this over to the muffler shop to get the piping done, don't have the bumper on.... Just a side note.
Edit: spelling and grammar.... see what i mean?

on a side note, i checked out www.overboost.com/obs and found a GReddy upper and lower piping kit for a 95-99. I don't know if the piping pattern is different for the 4g63, but its pretty cheap, like less than 300 i think. what do u guys think?

if you want the CHEAPEST way to get from stage 1 to stage 2, do what i did.
hallman manual boost controller from Mach V: $80 1g SMIC on eBay: $80 custom 2" or 2.25" press bent piping from your local muffler shop: $200 (how much it was for me, the guy mounted the intercooler too.)
$360 for a stage 1 -> stage 2 upgrade is pretty good IMO. a lot better than forking over $800 to hahn. if you're doing stage 2, a FMIC is defintaely overkill. the 1g SMIC will be good enough for up to maybe even 14 psi or so.

Yeah I've got one for sale. $50 plus shipping. It's a 2g, but it will work. The 1g's are just a little thicker.
