37801, What would you do??? Posted by JustOne, Jan-22-03 08:15 PM
Ok I need to make a decision, should I...
A) Get the FP Green and keep bottom end the same (Eagle and JE's 8.6:1)
Or
B) Up the s16g to a s20g and up the compression to a 9.6:1 or 10:1

I wouldn't recommend upping the compression. Go with the green!

up the compresion. that way the spool should be alot quicker.

Build a 2.4, up the compression, throw in a green (or even a red! }( ), and HOLD ON!!!!! -=B-=

Most guys can't even keep 9.x:1 compression without blowing up. I think tuning would be absolute hell to keep it in line without engine damage. The reason to run lower compression with turbo is so the engine is more forgiving to tuning errors. With the green, I think you're going to need a little room for error. Just my opinion. Anyone else with me on this or do I need to lay off the crack pipe? :P

I will agree with staying lower compression and bigger turbo/more boost. With that large of turbo, you can make some good boost, and if you had higher compression, tuning will be hell indeed. Some say you can do it without probs, but most of those guys are track/race only people, who can afford to rebuild every race. If you got the cash, and can deal with possible engine issues, then go high comp. It will be fast to say the least :) How many people do you guys know who are running high compression and lots of boost?? You wont find many i do believe. ;) and its not because they havent tried, hehe

Well I like the way things are now as far as my block goes and I don't want to build another block just yet.
I think a Green is in order. :9 Just when the funds make themselves present is another story.
Thanks for the input fellas
