37737, Well shit! I did it, im in trouble now.... Posted by tim97rs, Jan-22-03 06:26 AM
i just bought a turbo kit (sort of). Its only a t-25, 02 housing, water and oil lines, and a 1G side mount intercooler. (did i mention my wife doesn't know) NOW before ya'all start with the " your gonna want more boost, bigger turbo, t-25 sucks" speil. YES I WILL. But i decided to go for the t-25 now, because i have no intentions of doing a voluntary internals upgrade to support more boost anytime soon. (did i mention my wife doesn't know) i will have to be happy with the 5-6 psi boost for a while. Plus this is the best way for me to REALLY learn the ins/outs of the whole boost game. I m one of those people who needs to understand everything about how something works. (did i mention my wife doesn't know) And the best way for me to do that is to do a custom job up front, then maybe graduate to full kit when i know the game better. Plus i dont have a lump sum of money sitting around, im a student at the moment not working much (did i mention my wife doesn't know) and, oh yea, MY WIFE DOESN"T KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, i have now gone to the dark side, will be looking to offload my nitrous set-up(so i can pay back the secret bank account) and will be hitting you uys up for lots of info and help! BE READY!!! (yes i will use the search function first) And YES, i know theres a lot more i need, this isn't going in for a little while yet. I will sell of the N2O kit then tell the misses that i got the turbo stuff with the money...}(

Does your wife know about this?

FasterGS just took my manifold off my hands. Alain doesn't make any 14b/t25 manifolds anymore for good reasons :)
I started with a 14B and now I decided to pick up a used t3/t4. Started with a stock SMIC and now have a nice FMIC. Started with a regular 12:1 FMU, then went to a S-FMU, and now (maybe) going 8 injectors. I could go on and on about what I all switched. It will be all on by April.

hey tim, Im just north of ya. Let me know if you need any help with that thing. I kinda have some experience with the t25. :) In fact Motofool is in spokane, he is doing some stuff with a guy to build manifolds. O yea you might as well throw the o2 housing away. It is useless on our car. And when the guy makes you a exhaust manifold you MUST have the flange at an angle. Other wise your hood won't close due to the exhaust side of it. Hit me up with an email and I'll give you an invite to my imagestation account. Pleanty of pic there for ya to go through.

Hehe.. way to go! If you want some general information about the setup you will need to create, do a search for RxR_Eclipse's posts. On the 4th or 5th page of his posts (just search the turbo section) there is a bunch of info from when he put together his kit. Might want to check it out, sorta get you prepared for the project you have taken on.

DOH! Well your wife will figure it out at some point. Building the system will consume you and your wallet in such a way that it will most likely be impossible to hide.
I didn't "ask" her, but I did tell her pretty much right away - "Hey honey, I know it's alot of money - but really it's not. $450 is an awesome deal for a turbo, manifold, and SMIC."

Yes, but $610 is much better for a manifold, t3/t4, fmic, and piping. LOL

well, theres a story behind that! heres the digest version (you guys can help me at the end):
was gonna buy kit from board member, scottfreeman80, http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=16&topic_id=5508&mesg_id=5508&page=4 during process of nego. prices i thought i pissed him off because it takes him a couple of days to reply. In that time (thinking i wasn't gonna hear from him) i bid on this ebay kit, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2400977340&category=33742 and won. after i won it, i get a reply form scott saying he can work with me on price, THEN i find out the same day that the kit pictured in the auction is not the actual one to be sent!!! this guy supposedly sells multiple kits using the same picture!!! This does not make me feel real comfortable!!!!! I aint dumping 500.00 on a kit that im not even sure im getting whats pictured.
So basicly i told the ebay guy the his add was misleading and i wasn't cool with that, and backed out on the deal. (he even sold "a kit" to the loosing bidder!!) I look at it this way, if i bid on, lets say a car, based on pictures and description given, and find out, "oh yea, we sell many of the same cars, you'll get a blue on not a red one, but i assure you its the same quality!" Naw, i ain't down with that!!
anybody think im off base for backing out? i take my ebay stuff seriously...
So anyway, im waiting on scott to get back to me with a fianl go/no go for his kit (which he has now thrown in a walbro fuel pump as well) so, i will keep ya posted...
if anybody knows him, tell him to get back to me ASAP, im not good with patience!
Tim
