I just recently turboed my car and I ran a guy from our board and I barely one. He is a 5-speed talon with a cone filter on a p&p TB and he is running on open headers. I'm a GS eclipse with a HRC stage 2 turbo kit and I have a apexi cat-back exhuast with a testpipe.

By reading over Hahn's specs I'm suppose to be around 13.7 at a 1/4 mile well I'm an automatic so I'm going to guess I should be in the low 14's or high 13's . I have stock internals I haven't done anything to the engine except putting the turbo on well a friend did that I know now I should've done that so I would know more about turboing. I need you guys to help me out please. I don't know what to do I'm going to lose sleep over this.

You have an automatic and I'm willing to bet your car is not properly tuned. You can up the boost all day, but without it properly tuned you won't get the desired power. Another big factor is the driver. Try launching at 3k, right about where the boost kicks in. Of course HRC will run lower numbers and higher horse power. Their project and they have all the tools. The leaner the fuel the more power, the richer the fuel the lesser the power...either way you're playing with detonation. So try to keep it even.

So do I need to just fool around with the fuel system. I noticed that I was set at 40psi at idle it was at 50 earlier I didn't touch the nob that turns the pressure up or down I drove the car for a while and then let the car cool down after I drove it so I open the hood to check everything and thats when I noticed that it went down.

at idle is should about 55psi. Heave my advice and do not push more than 7psi of boost on stock internals. But for 7psi I believe the fp should be about 85-90psi. Top of cartech is for idle pressure and the side nob is for boost pressure.

Change your plugs out for some new NGK 7's and gap them around .30, then I would also check your boosted fuel pressure as well. Like he said, it should be around 85psi for 7psi. Make sure you are running 93 octane gas and maybe try spraying some carb cleaner in your TB to clean all that junk out......just trying to help a bit!

Your fuel pressures seem to be really low at idle (the 40 psi - the variable readings for pressures are due to the cartech - generally it does not hold solid fuel pressures - I have never installed it I use the Vortech SFMU). I am a HRC Stage II with a Side Mount intercooler running 8 psi of boost. I have just recently increased my fuel pressure at idle to 55 psi to compensate for the colder temperatures. At wide open throttle, I have at least 110+ psi of fuel pressure if not slightly more. My air/fuel gauge sits right in the middle of green which is right where I like to be (could be slightly rich).

According to Hahn, the instructions state that for 6 psi of boost you must have 80 - 90 psi of fuel pressure. Running 7 psi of boost should be between 90 and 100 psi. Do you have an air/fuel gauge and EGT gauge? If so, what are they reading?

If the car is getting enough fuel, do you have a boost leak (intercooler piping clamp connections) or is your BOV not staying closed under boost (need to be adjusted/spring tension not enough)?

Also, like Strauss said get a spark plug one range colder (I beleive it is the NGK 7e11) and gap them to about .32. You may even want to consider replacing your spark plug wires if they have more than 50,000 miles.

when we raced one of the clamps on his intercooler was off. I put it back on and now he's boosting 7-8 pounds instead of 5. He's got the final drive mod now too, and his car is significantly faster.

Well before I went out today I fooled with the fuel system I uped the boosted pressure but not by much cause its kind of hard doing this by yourself I really need to learn more about turboing so I'm going to order a book about turboing if I can find one. What is a good book for learning about turboing and about tuning? Well back to what I was talking about, When I was driving around I disided to gun it to see how much boost I can get well my boost gauge got to 9lbs but that was in the rain and my tires spun like crazy so I wait a little while and then do it agian this time on a semi-dry road in other words it wasn't as wet as the first road I did it on. I got to about 7 1/2 lbs and then when my transmission shifted it went down to 5lbs and I never could get it back up to 7-8lbs.

Well my problem was that the fuel presure under boost was not tuned right it was set at 60psi so I turn it up to about 65-70psi I still don't know if this is right but I took it for a ride and I got 8lbs on the dot my transmission shifts to another gear and that boost gauge doesn't move a bit it just stays at 8lbs. The bad thing is I don't know how to tune the A/F gauge right. I also need to tighten up my Throttle cable up for better response but the second nut will not move a bit, my car does pull a lot harder than it did last week-end

If you're at 8lbs. of boost, you better be seeing around 110 psi of fuel pressure at max boost.

What if its any higher than 110 psi?

So long, as it's not any higher than 115 or so, you're okay. But if your fuel pressure is too high, your fuel pump won't be able to deliver fuel under such pressures.

Well everything seems to be running fine except my A/F ratio gauge reads that I'm lean for 2 or 3 seconds when I'm a WOT and then goes rich, other than that I could tell my car pulls alot better and I can feel the tires spinning at full boost in 1st and it chirps just abit in 2nd. I have bad throttle response though. From the time I punch the gas to the time my engine desides to get up and go is just horrible.
