37137, Is anyone using a vortech fmu? Posted by xlr8shenCC, Jan-08-03 04:57 PM
I have a guy trying to get rid of a vortech fmu w/ a 12.1 disk in it (12 psi of fuel for every 1 psi of boost). Would it be a good replacement for the cartech/hahn fpr?

I run it, seams to be working great for me. A lot of people with the HRC kit will swap their craptech for it, then they seam to eventually move to the sfmu.

Definately worth the swap----even trade.
You will have to get a recalibration kit from Vortech themselves. Then use a different disc/ring combo for your smaller turbo. My guess is 8:1 with stock injectors, but that is just a place to start. This probably only raises fuel pressure 6 psi per pound of boost pressure.

I am using the 12:1 disk up in my 8 psi of boost. Just a heads up.

I assumed the original poster was trying to replace his cartech (because he has a HRC kit)with a standard vortech fmu. That is why he will have to replace the disc inside.
98RST: Because you have a star kit and use a 12:1 disc, does not have anything to do with the original post.

Thanks for the information so far. I am currently running a hahn stage II kit with the fmic and safc. I was just looking to replace my cartech fpr and had the opportunity to get this vortech fmu (12.1) really cheap. Based on your responses I think I will try it out. Thanks and please post any other info
