hi. i was wondering if i got a stage 2 turbo kit from HRC how hard would it be to put a 20g turbo on it instead of the one that comes with it? would the intercooler be fine for awhile? and would this save me a litte money instead of buying EVERYTHING seperate for me going turbo. thanks

It would save you time, money adn heartache just to buy a stage 2 HRC kit as is. A s-20G turbo is really too big for the stage 2 setup. You will need a big turbo like that if you are building your car top to bottom for max power. the 16 is a great turbo, and it definitely holds it's own. Bigger doesn't allways mean better in every situation.

It wouldn't be too much trouble as I'm pretty sure HRC can send it all to you without problem. Put simply the 20G is nothing more than a suped up 16G. Purchasing a complete kit won't be trouble. The lag is more, but unnoticeable at high pressure(like 12+PSI I suspect). It will save you money in the long run because you won't have to send your 16G back to HRC to be built into the 20G which will also cost you some change in shipping. Then, when your internals are ready, your system will be readily available for serious pressure. Now all you need are some 400cc+ injectors to support your fuel system.

Nope, they would supply all the necessary equipment. This is sorta a custom job by HRC(not really though) and they would supply it, but you would have to call them up and speak to someone in sales, like Dan. He could most likely tell you what you wanted to know.

To date, we would not sell a Stage II kit with a Super 20G due to the fact that the fuel system is not safely capable of accomodating the greater CFM of airflow that the 20G will produce per pound of boost as compared to the Super 16G. The results are a mismatch: a turbo that produces excellent hi HP, but an inability to get to that HP due to fuel system limits, as well as the possiblity of having insuffucient fuel supply. We prefer not to go there, with your best interests in mind.

As a Super 16G can be easily converted to 20G specs at a later date, and economically at that, the best bet is to go with the well-proven Stage II with Super 16G, and spend a few exta bucks on our new FMIC instead. You will have a very powerful and proven setup, and when you wish to step up in the future, you will only need to upgrade the turbo: everything else you have already purchased will work from Stage II to Stage V! Add the pistons/rods, our Auxiliary Management System, and an ignition amp, (maybe our new 3" Eliminator 420A downpipe if you are really going for it) and prepare for a streetable 11 second car that is not an experiment, it is a proven package.

whats the price for the stage II? and whats the price for the upgrade and the othe mentioned items? and i was thinking of getting the stae II then selling that turbo, then buying a 20g and upgrading the pistons, rods, rings, and fuel system. wouldn't that work? wouldn't that save me a little money? thanks

I can give you ballpark prices (our sales department guys don't work on weekends unless there's a race to do):

Starting at Stage II costs $2800. Adding our BIG FMIC upgrade adds $300. Later, convert the turbo to 20G for $400. Add pistons and rods for $1200. Pick up our Auxiliary Management System and 625cc injectors for $1350. Add a good exhaust and an ignition amp like an MSD or Crane HI-6.

"will i need the Auxiliary Management System and the ignition amp?"

No but I would suggest an Ignition Amp.
